Biotechnology Trainee Engineers :
As part of its human resource development program, RGCB invites applications for Biotechnology Trainee Engineers in biotechnology instrumentation operation, cell & molecular biology and bioinformatics. It is hoped that through this training program, the candidates will get better job offers placements in the Biotech Industry. A total of 4 positions will be available in the year 2013 - 14. The positions will be temporary, on project mode, and initially for one year and a maximum of 3 years
Essential Qualification :
Candidates must have a BTech/BE degree or equivalent engineering degree in Biotechnology from a recognized University with first class.
Age : Below 25 years
Emoluments(Stipend) :
Selected trainees with 0 - 2 year documented work experience in related fields will be paid a stipend of `16,800 /- consolidated per month.
Selected trainees with more than 2 years documented work experience in related fields will be paid a stipend of `19,200 /- consolidated per month.
Only those fulfilling the above criteria need apply and will be called for interview
Suitably qualified candidates may send applications in the prescribed format (www.rgcb.res.in/downloads/advnew.doc) with a copy of full resume and attested photocopies of credentials & experience to reach the undersigned on or before 19th April, 2013. The envelopes must be superscripted with abbreviated title of the project, the advertisement number and job title. Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
In the event of more than 10 candidates being short listed, a written test will be done before the selection interview.
Post Doctoral Fellowship for Research in Venous Diseases :
Applications are invited from those interested in advanced scientific research on Venous Diseases, for a postdoctoral position in the Cardiovascular Disease Biology Division, Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram. This fellowship is supported by the Dr N. Radhakrishnan Foundation for Research on Venous Diseases with a purpose of providing advanced research training in “cutting edge” areas of venous disease research. Research proposals on any of the following themes would be considered, although any other clinically relevant themes in venous diseases would also be considered.
** Venous system development
** Developmental anomalies of veins
** Cellular aspects of vein remodeling in pathological conditions
** Genetic and epigenetic analysis of venous diseases
** Developing animal models for venous diseases
Eligibility :
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Life Science or M.D. degree in Modern Medicine and a good academic record. The applicants should preferably be below the age of 35 years (40 years in case of women candidates).
Details Of the Award :
This Postdoctoral fellowship is a purely temporary assignment tenable for a period of 3 years. Fellowship will be as per norms prescribed by the Department of Biotechnology. Continuation of the fellowship during second and third years will subject to evaluation of progress in research.

Application :
Candidates are to submit their application on plain paper along with bio-data, list of publications (attach reprints of 2 important papers), self attested copies of certificates (B.Sc., M.Sc., PhD or M.D.), two letters of academic recommendation (one of which has to be from the PhD degree mentor) and a two page synopsis of proposed research work including objectives and concise methods. A list of facilities or equipments required for the proposed study also needs to be enclosed.
Mode of Selection :
Candidates will be selected based on their Curriculum Vitae, performance in the selection interview and quality of the research proposal. Interview will be held at RGCB, Thiruvananthapuram. No TA/DA is admissible for attending the interview. The selected candidate is expected to join Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology within a month after selection.

Call For concept Proposals in Nutrition Biology :
Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology (RGCB) is an autonomous institute of the Government of India, Department of Biotechnology with major research focus on disease biology. RGCB has a major interest in developing a nutrition biology program and invites concept proposals for post doctoral fellowships and visiting scientist fellowships in the following areas: Nutrition, infection, inflammation & immunity, Nutrition & cancer and Nutrition, cardiovascular disease & diabetes
Concept proposals should be limited to a maximum of 1000 words with the following heads: title, name of investigator, rationale for study, working hypothesis, brief methodology and projected outcome. All applications must be accompanied by a bio-data of the applicant. Concept proposals received at RGCB will be peer reviewed. Applicants whose proposals are short-listed will be invited to RGCB for a discussion on how to take the proposal forward. For selected project proposals, RGCB will provide essential infrastructure to host applications for submission to national funding agencies as well for highly recommended proposals, start up funds. The applicants should preferably be below the age of 35 years (40 years in case of women candidates)applications will be received by RGCB till April 19, 2013.
