CONTRAPTION
Out Line :
There will be two balls, one is the man and the other is his guide, running in two different paths.
The two balls should be differentiated either in colour or size.
The guide ball should divert the path of the man ball, so that the man gets guided to his friend’s home.
Tasks :
** Ways of Guiding can be removal of an obstacle, inserting a new path, etc. in the path of the man ball.
[NOTE : the man ball should NOT be able to proceed until the task is completed by the guide].
** There can be any number of tasks.
** Intermediate tasks can be done in between tasks for extra points.The intermediate task should be done by the man ball, which can be bursting a balloon, initiating a domino, etc.
Final Task :
The guide ball should open a door (which is the door of the home) and close the door once the man ball rolls into it.
Rules :
** Each team can have 4-6 members.
** The team should submit a TDP (Team Description Paper) and flow charts of all the steps and the energy conversion in each step.
** Selection of team for the finals will be based on TDP.
** Selected teams are requested to bring 5 copies of detailed TDP.
** Change of steps is not encouraged after submission of TDP. Addition of steps is permitted.
** There should be no repetition of steps.
** Arena dimension will be 10*8 feet.
** Setup time of 180 minutes will be given to each team for the first trail alone.
** Time interval of 1 hour will be given between each trial.
** Each team will be given 2 trials and average mark will be considered.
** Maximum time allowed for each trial is 20 mins.
** Failure to start and use of explosive chemical reactions will lead to direct disqualification.
** 220 volts AC supply will be provided at the event venue. If any further requirement is required inform us well in advance.
** Judges decision will be final.
Evaluation :
For each successful task the points will be 100.
For each unsuccessful task 50 points will be deducted.
For each intermediate task 20 points will be awarded.
For the final task 150 points.
For innovation points will be provided out of 50.
Manual intervention will lead to deduction of 15 points.
Points for energy conversions:
Mechanical – 10
Electrical/electronic - 20
Chemical/Magnetic/Hydraulic – 30
Formula:
Total score = (Points for tasks) – (Points for Intervention in tasks) + (Points for intermediate tasks) – (Points for manual interventions) + (Points for energy conversions).
SUMO WARS
Event Format :
** Teams will be randomly split into groups of 4.
** Each team will have fight against all the other teams in the group.
** From each group 2 best teams will move on to the next round.
** All the matches will be a one vs one.
** The duration of each match will be a maximum of 3 minutes
Arena Specification :
The arena consists of rectangular shaped plywood with a hole in the middle.
Rules :
** Dimensions - 30*30cm(length * breadth) maximum
** Voltage - Maximum of 12 volts
** Weight - Maximum of 5kgs ( Including weight of the battery for on-board supply).
** Maximum of 4 members in a team.
** The battery can be on board or off board supply.
** A minimum wire length of 2m is required for wired robots.
** For wireless bots bring minimum of 2 frequency controllers.
** IN CASE OF ANY DISCREPANCIES JUDGES DECISION WILL BE CONSIDERED FINAL.
