Instructions for Foreigners processing Students Visa Registration :
It is a mandatory requirement for all Foreigners arriving on long term Student (S) visa (including those coming for study of Yoga, Vedic Culture, Indian system of dance and Music) to register themselves within 14 days of their first arrival in India, irrespective of duration of stay. Besides the foreigners are required to adhere to any observation made on the Indian Visa.
Registration facilities are not provided at the airport and are carried out in the office of FRROs or District Superintendents of Police (FROs).
Children below 16 years of age do not require Registration, on a student VISA.

Penalty for Late Registration :
No fee is required to be paid for registration, but a penalty in Indian currency equivalent to US$ 30/-(Rs.1395/-) in case of late registration is charged.

Requirements at the time of Registration :
Every foreigner at the time of Registration, shall furnish, such information in registration report, as may be in his possession for the purpose of satisfying the Registration Officer and shall, on being required, shall sign the registration report in the presence of the said officer and shall thereupon be entitled to receive from the said officer a certificate of registration in Part III of Form A:A foreigner is also required to submit

The following documents are required to be submitted at the time of registration :
** Registration form in triplicate (3 Copies).
** 4 Recent passport size photographs.
** Bonafide certificate from College/University/Institute (In original).
** Copy of passport/VISA/arrival immigration stamp.
** Copy of valid and notarised Lease/Rent agreement OR Copy of C-Form from the Hotel OR copy of recent electricity/telephone bill along with the letter from the landlord, towards proof of residence.
** Passport in original.
** Registration required within 14 days of arrival in India (days should be counted from the date of arrival).

Visa Extension :
Foreign students may approach the concerned FRROs/District Superintendents of Police(FROs) for extension of stay for a period of one year at a time up to the duration of the course or 5 years whichever is less for students perusing full time and regular course in a reputed and recognized university or institution. The list of recognized institutions/universities is available on website www.education.nic.in
The FRROs/FROs cum Superintendents of Police can grant one year Visa extension to students and research scholar desirous to come to study Yoga, Vedic Culture, Indian system of dance /music at the recognized Institution on year to year basis for a period up to five years subject to due sponsorship by the Institution and nothing adverse against the foreigner.

The following documents are required to be submitted at the time of Visa Extension:
** Visa Extension form .
** 1 Recent passport size photographs.
** Bonafide certificate from College/University/Institute (In original).
** Copy of passport/VISA/Registration Certificate..
** Copy of valid and notarized Lease/Rent agreement OR Copy of C-Form from the Hotel OR copy of recent electricity/telephone bill along with the letter from the landlord, towards proof of residence.
** Passport and Registration Certificate in original.

Whether visa fee can be charged from foreign students every year?

Visa fee is charged once at the time of issuance of Student visa for completion of the course or for 5 years whichever is less.

In case of ‘Provisional Student VISA’ when a student seeks regular admission in any college/university then one time course fee i.e. Rs. 3500/- are charged which is valid for the duration of the course or for 5 years whichever is less.

If the visa is issued for a period less than the duration of the course, then the visa would be extended by the concerned authorities without charging any additional fees.

Can a person holding ‘Tourist Visa indulge in Business activities?

No. If a person holding ‘Tourist’ visa is found to be involved in Business activities, action may be taken for visa violation.
