Motives : The Earth System Sciences Organization (ESSO) had embarked on a world class job-linked training program in the field of Earth System Sciences in 2010. The main objective of the program is to build a large pool of dedicated multi-disciplinary scientists in climate and earth system sciences. The program is being hosted at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune.

Eligibility :
i) B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.E/MS in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical or Electronics or any related Engineering disciplines
ii) M.Sc/M.Tech/MS in Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Mathematics, Atmospheric / Ocean / Earth/Planetary Sciences or equivalent.
iii) IIT-GATE / CSIR-UGC-NET score in 2011, 2012 or 2013. Those appearing for final exam can also apply. Final Selection will be based on detailed interview at Pune in June (travel will be provided).

The Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, an autonomous research organization, fully devoted to cutting edge research in various aspects of climate science is looking for recruiting bright talented candidates of Indian origin for one post each of Scientist ‘D’ and Scientist ‘C’ for teaching Atmospheric Science to students of M.Sc./M.Tech. of the University of Pune and IITM.

1. Name of the post : Scientist ‘D’

Salary : Rs. 62,000/- p.m. consolidated with increase in D.A. as applicable to regular employees.
Essential Qualifications :
i) A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics or a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university/institution with good scientific standing and with 60% marks at Post- Graduation level.
ii) A minimum of 3 years experience of research in Atmospheric and / or Oceanic Sciences and in allied subjects as above and as evidenced by published papers.
Desirable Qualifications : Preferably a Doctorate in any one of the above subjects with 3 years of teaching experience in Meteorology at Post Graduate level. Should have demonstrated capability to lead research with good number of high impact publications.

2. Name of the post : Scientist ‘C’

Essential Qualifications :
i) A Master’s Degree or equivalent in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography, Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Geophysics or a Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university/institution and with 60% marks at Post-Graduation level.
ii) A minimum of 2 years experience of research in Atmospheric and/or Oceanic Sciences related to weather and climate as evidenced by published papers.
Desirable Qualifications : Preferably a Doctorate in any one of the above subject with 2 years teaching experience in Meteorology at Post Graduate level. Should possess good number of publications in high impact factor journals.
Upper Age Limit : 40 years as on 15 May 2013

The students qualified CSIR/UGC/National Eligibility Test or GATE are eligible to apply. The students with M.Tech. (Atmospheric Sciences) are eligible to apply. The M.Sc. students not qualified in the CSIR/UGC National Eligibility Test or GATE Tests but working in the sponsored projects at the Institute are also eligible to apply. Candidates appeared for final year M.Tech. can apply for the post but their appointment is subject to having passed the M.Tech. examination as evidenced by mark sheets/provisional degree certificate. Selected candidates are required to complete Ph.D. under the guidance of the scientists of the Institute.
