National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are Institutions of National Importance and are Centrally Funded Technical Institutes. The NIMCET is NIT MCA Common Entrance Test, a National Level Test conducted by NITs for admission in to their MCA programme.

The admission to the MCA prgoramme in to NITs at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and Warangal for the year 2013-14 is based on the Rank obtained in NIMCET-2013 ONLY.

The Curriculum and Syllabi of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme offered by NITs are designed considering the needs of different Information Technology firms in India and abroad. MCA graduates have high potential for jobs in IT Sector.

What is the mode of paying any application fee or processing fee?

The processing Fee for NIMCET-2013 test and counselling for admission to the MCA programme is Rs.1600 /- for OPEN/OBC category and Rs. 800/- for SC/ST category candidates. Candidates have to take Demand Draft for an appropriate amount relevant to their category. Demand Draft must be drawn in favor of "NIMCET-2013", payable at any bank listed in section 5.0 of the Information Brochure.

I am studying final year. Am I eligible?

Candidates who are appearing for final year/semester ofBSc / BSc(Hons) / BCA / BIT of minimum 3 years or BE/BTech in the academic year 2012-13 arealso eligible to apply for NIMCET-2013.

Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof (in the form of a certificate issued by the head of institution where the candidate has studied) that he/she is appearing for the examinations during the academic year 2012-13 and can submit the proof of fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2013 preferably at the time of Counseling/Admission but not later than 15th September, 2013, failing which their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.

NIMCET-2013 will not reserve a seat to a candidate due to any reason claimed for not fulfilling the eligibility criteria including the delay in publishing the results by the concerned University/institute.

Syllabus for NIMCET-2013:
1. Mathematics :
Set Theory: Concept of sets - Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.
Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions
Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear / quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices
Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola
Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.
Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.
Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.

2. Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning :
The questions in this section will cover logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

3. Computer Awareness :
Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and back-up devices.
Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two's complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

4. General English :
Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidate's general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics...
Comprehension, Vocabulary
Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles)
Word power, Synonyms and Aantonyms, Meaning of words and phrases
Technical writing
