BHABHA ATOMIC RESEARCH CENTRE
The Radiation Medicine Centre of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre invites applications for undergoing the following post-graduate courses under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI) (a Deemed University), Mumbai.
COURSE NO I : DIPLOMA IN RADIATION MEDICINE (DRM)
This course equips candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training comprises a full time schedule of lectures, demonstrations, practicals, apprentice programmes and clinics. Examinations will be conducted by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai. Candidates should not hold any other job during the period of training, or join any other training programme
DURATION OF TRAINING : Two Academic Years (2013-2015).
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION : M.B.B.S. Degree including internship of an MCI recognized Institute/University. Candidates having post-graduate medical qualification may also apply. Candidates sponsored by Medical Institutions with immediate prospect of post training employment will compete for 1 (one) seat.
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 200 questions in 3 hours with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET will be based on Multiple Choice Questions and will have 200 questions at the III MBBS level. Subjects covered will be, Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstertics, Opthalmology and ENT, Microbiology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Internal Medicine (Cardiology, Pediatrics, Oncology), Infectious diseases, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology and Recent Advances in Medicine. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and candidates will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available at BARC website
AGE LIMIT : Not more than 40 years as on 1st May 2013.
NUMBER OF SEATS : Maximum 4 (3 non-sponsored and 1 sponsored) may change as per MCI guidelines.
STIPEND : A Stipend of ` 16000/- p.m. (` Sixteen Thousand only) for the first year and ` 17000/- p.m. (` Seventeen Thousand only) for the second year will be given to each nonsponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.
COURSE NO. II : DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL RADIOISOTOPE TECHNIQUES (DMRIT)
This course equips candidates for working in Nuclear Medicine Centres. The training will comprise of a full time schedule of lectures, demonstration, practicals and apprentice programmes. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION : B.Sc. Degree with 60% and above marks on aggregate of science subjects of a recognized University with Chemistry, Physics, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biophysics, B.Sc. (Nuclear Medicine Technology) or B.Sc. (Medical Radiological Technology). Those having M.Sc. degree may also apply, but they will not have any preference in selection.
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) : Admission criteria will be a CET (Common Entrance Test) of 150 Multiple choice questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. The CET syllabus will be drawn from Science Subjects. 1) Physics , 2) Chemistry, 3) Maths or Biology of Standard XII or equivalent. Minimum marks to qualify will be 50%. A merit list of qualifying candidates will be made and will be selected in order of merit only. The CET will be held in BARC, Trombay, Mumbai. The dates for CET will be announced later and will be available on BARC website
AGE LIMIT : Not more than 35 years as on 1st May 2013.
NUMBER OF SEATS : Maximum 10 (Ten) (5 non-sponsored and 5 sponsored).
STIPEND : A Stipend of ` 9300/- p.m. (` Nine Thousand Three Hundred only) will be given to each non-sponsored trainees. However, no stipend is admissible to sponsored trainees.
HOW TO APPLY :
i) Application format can be downloaded from the website.
ii) Single copy of the application type written on thick A4 paper should be submitted as per proforma given below and envelop should be superscribed “D.R.M. / D.M.R.I.T COMMON ENTRANCE TEST”.
iii) Two clear front face photographs (passport size) with light background. One should be pasted on the top right hand corner of the application and other, with name of the applicant written in block letters on the reverse, should be enclosed.
iv) Attach a self addressed unstamped envelope (bilingual-Hindi & English) (Size: 200 mm x 110 mm) along with the application, for the Common Entrance Test Admission Card.
v) Attested copies of M.B.B.S. degree certificate, mark sheet and Internship Certificate should be enclosed for DRM and attested copies of B.Sc. Degree (Convocation) Certificate and Marklist alongwith marksheet of Higher Secondary (XII Std.) for DMRIT.

ONE YEAR POST-M.Sc. DIPLOMA COURSE IN RADIOLOGICAL PHYSICS (Dip.R.P.)
Radiological Physics and Advisory Division (RP & AD) of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is conducting the Diploma in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P.) Course since 1962. This is a post M.Sc., programme and the duration is one year. Forty nine courses have been successfully conducted by RP & AD so far.
Name of the Course : Diploma in Radiological Physics (Dip. R.P.)
Age limit as on August 01, 2013 : 26 years
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : The basic qualification for applying to this course is M.Sc. (Phys.). The candidates should have scored minimum of 60% marks (aggregate) in both B.Sc. (Phys.) and M.Sc. (Phys.). In case of grade system, grade to percentage of marks conversion scheme obtained from University should be submitted along with the application. Those who await the final results of M.Sc. (Phys.) can also apply. Such candidates when selected should submit their final mark sheet by October 30, 2013. In addition to the above qualification, the sponsored candidates should have at least one-year working experience in a Radiotherapy Centre in India. These sponsored candidates should also submit a documentary evidence of availing personnel monitoring services from BARC.
SELECTION PROCEDURE :
(a) A list of candidates who are eligible to participate in the CET will be short-listed based on merit and such candidates will be informed in advance. Selection of non-sponsored candidates is based on Common Entrance Test (CET) followed by an interview. The CET (duration 2 hrs.) will be based on Multiple Choice Questions with negative marking for incorrect answers. Note that CET is meant for screening the candidates and the final selection to the course is solely based on performance in the interview. The sponsored candidates will be called for the interview directly.
(b) M.Sc. (Phys.) candidates applied for one-year Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Post-Graduates for the year 2013-2014 (OCES-2013) conducted by BARC Training School may also be considered for admission to the Dip.R.P. Course.
(c) The successful candidates will be admitted to the course only after they are declared medically fit by the BARC hospital at Anushaktinagar, Mumbai

Ph.D. Programme in Basic Sciences- 2013
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) invites applications for its Ph.D. programme in Basic Sciences under the aegis of HBNI
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is a premier Institution for Research & Development (R&D). The Centre has been in the forefront of research in Physical, Chemical and Life Sciences. Several of its state-of-the-art laboratories and research facilities are unique to it.
BARC offers a Ph.D. programme in Basic Sciences under the aegis of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a Deemed to be University. The Ph.D. programme at BARC consists of one year of course work and research work leading to a doctoral degree. A minimum performance in the prescribed course work, corresponding to cumulative marks of 60% and not less than 50% marks in any individual subject is one of the prerequisites for award of a Ph.D. degree.
Selection Process :
Selection for the Ph.D. programme is a two-step process;
Screening for Physical and Chemical Sciences shall be on the basis of the rank obtained/marks scored in the UGC-CSIR-JRF NET. Screening for Life Sciences shall be on the basis of the rank obtained / marks scored in the UGC-CSIR-JRF NET or similar NET conducted by the DBT, ICAR or ICMR. Additional criteria based on previous academic performance in the MSc and/or BSc examinations may be used for screening.
Short-listed candidates shall be called for interview to be conducted in second half of July, 2013 at the BARC Training School, Anushaktinagar, Mumbai - 400 094.
Eligibility :
a. Qualifying Degree and other academic qualifications:
Those having M.Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Biology or related science subjects with minimum 60%* marks in M.Sc. as well as in B.Sc. are eligible to apply.
*A minimum of 60% marks means the marks as per the ordinances of the respective university.
Applicants in the Physical Sciences : should have a M.Sc. in Physics with Physics and Mathematics up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five years integrated M.Sc.
Applicants in the Chemical Sciences : should have a M.Sc. in Chemistry with Mathematics up to XII std and Physics up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five years integrated M.Sc.
Applicants in the Life Sciences : should have M.Sc. in any one out of Agriculture, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Botany, Zoology, Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Food Technology, Animal Science, Life Sciences and Biosciences with Physics or Chemistry or Biochemistry or Agriculture Chemistry up to B.Sc. or at subsidiary and/or ancillary level in case of five year integrated M.Sc.
Those whose final results of qualifying degree are awaited can also apply. In the event of selection, mark sheet of final result confirming eligibility as above, should be submitted by November 30, 2013.
Nationality: Applicant must be a citizen of India.
Fellowship for undertaking Ph. D. Programme : Candidates should have a valid fellowship for undertaking Ph. D. work at BARC, available through the NET examinations conducted by UGC-CSIR, DBT, ICAR or ICMR, for pursuing the Ph. D. work.
