JOIN INDIAN COAST GUARD (MINISTRY OF DEFENCE) AS NAVIK (GENERAL DUTY) 10+2 ENTRY
Applications are invited from unmarried male Indian nationals possessing educational qualifications and age, as prescribed below, for recruitment to the post of Navik (General Duty) in the Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union.
Educational Qualification :- 10+2 with 60% marks aggregate in total and minimum 60% in each subject of Maths and Physics from an education board recognised by Central/State Government. (5% relaxation in the above % for sports person of National level and wards of Coast Guard uniform personnel deceased while in service.
Age : Born between 01 Aug 91 to 31 Jul 95.
Selection Procedure : Selection of candidates is based on the order of merit depending on their performance in Written Test, Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in the Medical Examination
Medical Standards :
(i) Minimum height 157 cms. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. orders.
(ii) Chest: Should be well proportioned. Minimum expansion 5 cms.
(iii) Weight : Proportionate to height and age +_10% acceptable. Hearing: normal.
(iv) Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Enrolled Personnel on entry.
(v) Visual Standards : 6/6 (Better Eye) and 6/9(Worse Eye) (Candidates using glasses are not eligible)
How to apply : -
Applications will be accepted 'Online only' from 28 Jan to 11 Feb 13.
On completion of filling application, click on the 'Submit' button.
i) After saving the form correctly the application with a Registration number will be provided to the candidate. The filled Application Form, with the number generated will be available to the candidate to save and take a print. For candidates NOT meeting the eligibility criteria, a ‘Rejection Slip, giving the cause of rejection with the Application Number’ will be displayed.
ii) Candidates are required to print two copies of the application with number generated by the system. Both copies of the print out of application duly signed with photograph are to be carried by the applicant to the recruitment centre.
iii) Out of the two copies one copy enclosed with photocopies of all required documents i.e. class 10th certificate/mark sheet showing date of birth, 12th class certificate along with mark sheet subjects, caste certificate wherever required duly attested by the Gazzetted Officer shall also be carried by the candidate and submitted at the recruitment centre. Second copy without any enclosure is to be kept with the candidate as an identity proof during the selection procedure. Any candidate who does not carry all these documents at the time of recruitment shall not be permitted to appear in the exam.
List of Documents : Scrutiny of documents for eligibility will be carried out prior to commencement of the written exam. Candidates are therefore required to appear at the examination venue with the following documents;

Visual Standards : 6/24 (Better Eye) and 6/24 (Worse Eye).
Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.
How to apply :-
i) Applications will be accepted 'Online only' from 04 Feb to 14 Feb 13. Candidates to logon www.joincoastguard.org.
ii) On completion of filling application, click on the Submit button.
iii) Filled form will be displayed. Verify the particulars in the filled form and then click on the Save button if all details are correct. Otherwise click on the Edit button for correction and then submit and save.
iv) After saving the form correctly, the application with a Registration will be provided to the candidate. The filled Application Form, with the number generated will be available to the candidate to save and take a print. Eligibility : Vacancies are available in Indian Coast Guard for Musicians with the specialization in Tenor Saxophone, Clarinet, F Hom, Trumpet, Tenor Trombone, Eb Bass, Drummer, Flute/Piccolo for re-employment. Retired sailors (Petty officers and below) from Indian Navy are only eligible for the posts. The individual will be re-employed in a similar rank to that discharged from Indian Navy. The seniority in recruited rank will be fixed as per the joining date in Coast Guard. They would be under probation for two years, which may be extended at the discretion of the appointing authority.
Selection procedure : Short listed candidates will be intimated regarding date, time and place of test, which is scheduled during May 13. Broad criteria for selection is as follows:
(i) Candidates will be required to undergo interview for assessment of knowledge.
(ii) Candidates will undergo practical to play instrument to check the efficiency in a particular instrument.
(iii) Candidates those who qualify the above tests will be required to undergo initial recruitment medical examination. Those found medically fit will be placed in the merit list.
(iv) The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all the tests depending upon the available vacancies.
Medical Standards: Selected candidates will undergo medical examination as per laid down standards of Enrolled Personnel prior to enrolment in the Coast Guard.
