Admission to Post B.Sc. Four Semester PG Diploma in Jute Technology and Management

Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, Institute of Jute Technology, Calcutta University, announces commencement of the Post B.Sc. Four Semester PG Diploma in Jute Technology and Management for sustainable HRD for Jute Sector to be conducted in this department for Sponsored and General (Non-sponsored) Candidates.

About the Course : This Post B.Sc. Four Semester PG Diploma in Jute Technology and Management is the course approved by Calcutta University and AICTE mainly designed to suit the Diploma level technical manpower requirement as Technical supervisors for Jute industry and related organizations.

Intake : Total Seats: 60 (50% for sponsored and 50% for non-sponsored candidates.). However, if seats for sponsored candidates remain vacant, those will filled up by non-sponsored candidates. Reservations for SC/ST/PH candidates are as per University norms / W.B. Govt. rule. 5% seats are reserved for Tution fee waiver (TFW) candidate.

Eligibility for Admission : Pass in three years B. Sc. Examination with Physics and Chemistry as two compulsory papers (along with other possible combination, such as, Mathematics/Statistics/Computer, etc.) of the University of Calcutta or any other University, recognized by UGC.

Admission Procedure :
A Common Admission Test for PGDJTM for all categories of candidates will be conducted by this Department. The admission test will comprise one paper of 100 marks with four subgroups, viz. (i) General knowledge and English, 25 marks (ii) Mathematical aptitude, 25 marks (iii) Physics , 25 marks and (iv) Chemistry, 25 marks.

In this year , the admission test will be held on Sunday, 20th January , 2012 at 12 AM at the premises of Department of Jute and Fibre Technology , Institute of Jute Technology , Calcutta University (35, Ballygunge Circular Road, Kolkata-700019) followed by interview on the same day. All candidates applied for the said course are to appear for the Admission Test.

Requirements During Admission :
(a) B Sc. Pass Certificate / Provisional certificate and/or Marksheet
(b) Madhyamik Certificate as proof of age
(c) Medical Certificate for medical fitness
(d) Relevant Certificate for SC/ST /OBC/PH candidate and
(e)Transfer Certificate,/ no objection certificate /proof of admission cancellation, if already admitted to other College
(f) If Sponsored, original letter of sponsorship in prescribed format and No objection from present employer, if the candidate is presently employed anywhere and
(i) The course fee in full as applicable for the first semester of this PGDJTM course, to be paid by a demand draft in favour of “Department of Jute and Fibre Technology, IJT, Calcutta University- A/c -PGDJTM – 2 (Revenue)” payable at Kolkata.

Course Fee : For both sponsored and non-sponsored candidates: Rs. 5,000/- per semester i.e. Rs. 10000 per year ( including lab fee , library fee etc for each semester) plus miscellaneous other fees as applicable for all categories of candidates ( Students activities fee – Rs. 400 in 1st semester only ; Identity card fee – Rs. 30 in 1st semester only. Examination fee per semester is as applicable and to be decided by the Calcutta University.

ADMISSION TO Ph.D. (TECH.)/Ph.D. (SC.) IN COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING

I. PH. D. (TECH.) IN COMPUTER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING :
Applications are invited for admission to the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Calcutta (92 Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata 700009) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D. degree in Computer Science & Engineering under the Faculty of Technology.

Eligibility :
M.E./M.Tech./ Post B.Sc. - B.Tech/B.Tech. /B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering, MCA. A candidate with B. Tech. /B.E. may also apply for the program as per provision laid down in the section 4.4 of the Ph.D. regulations. The same criteria would also be applicable for MCA students.
The final semester/year students for the above qualifying courses may also apply. However, such candidates, if selected, must complete their qualifying degree before the date of enrolment.

II. ADMISSION TO PH. D. (SC.) IN COMPUTER SCIENCE :
Applications are invited for admission to the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Calcutta (92 Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata 700009) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent
research work leading to Ph.D. degree in Computer Science.

Eligibility : M. Sc. (Computer & Information Science) or equivalent, MCA.
The final semester/year students for the above qualifying courses may also apply. However, such candidates, if selected, must complete their qualifying degree before the date of enrolment.

Fee : Candidates who wish to pursue research work through this Department should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan available through different University Cash counters.

How to Apply :
i) The proforma for application is available in the University website.

ii) Candidates must clearly indicate the program in which they want to apply. Candidates who intend to apply in both the programs must use separate application form and challan for each program.

iii) The completed application form with a copy of the paid challan is to be submitted in the office of the Department by February 14, 2013.

Applications are invited for enrollment in Ph.D. program in Botany from Post Graduate students of Botany (or allied disciplines, subject to endorsement by the concerned Ph. D Committee). Maximum up to 45 candidates will be selected on the basis of merit.
