Job Description
Key Performance Areas Duties
Participate in Presentation Phase - Preparing and presenting design proposals to the client; by preparing and delivering design sketches, details, perspectives;
- Using IT in design and project management, specifically software packages such as Auto Cad
- Advising the client on the practicality of their project;
- Producing detailed drawings from which costings are made;
- Preparing tender applications and presentations when required
- Assist in the preparation of project planning/ programme of works
Lead in Drawing Phase - Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements, and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
- Operate computer-aided drafting (CAD) equipment or conventional drafting station to produce designs, working drawings, charts, forms and records.
- Coordinate structural, electrical and mechanical designs and determine a method of presentation to graphically represent building plans.
- Obtain and assemble data to complete architectural designs, visiting job sites to compile measurements as necessary.
- Draw rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings and structures, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, specification sheets and other data.
- Plan lay out and interior room arrangements for commercial buildings using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software as required.
- Check dimensions of materials to be used and assign numbers to lists of materials.
- Determine procedures and instructions to be followed, according to design specifications and quantity of required materials.
- Lead a team of draughtsman to ensure targets as above are achieved
Monitoring at Construction Phase - Making site visits to check on progress and ensuring that the project is running within the agreed timescale;
- Supervise, coordinate, and inspect the work of draftspersons, technicians, and technologists on construction projects.
- Represent Design and Build Manager on construction site, ensuring construction is in compliance with design specifications and advising on design corrections, under Design and Build Manager’s supervision.
- Carrying out defect inspections and solving problems that might occur during building
