The DSM/HM, also called HM, is the DSM interface for the government accounts. The government has various agencies like postal, police, defense and others that have branches in every state and city for which the accounts are maintained and managed here. To each such branch the government assigns an AHC (Agency Hierarchy Code), which is a 30-character code divided into 7 groups of 4 characters each. The last two characters are reserved for the future. To create an account for every such branch the Hierarchy Manager maintains a unique combination of an MCN (at least 6 characters), SFX (Suffix, 2 character code: 1 alphabet, 1 numeric), GRC (Group Revenue Code, 3 Alphanumeric Characters) for every AHC. So every AHC has an equivalent unique MCN-SFX-GRC code.
The scope of hierarchy manager is to maintain a mapping of account key (MCN-SFX-GRC) to AHC (Agency Hierarchy Code) and make this data available to external systems that require a translation of MCN/SFX/GRC to AHC, or vice versa, as well as other pertinent information.
In addition, hierarchy manager aids in the establishment of account information in existing customer account applications. A web interface allows designated users to establish, maintain and query AHC to account key mappings.
The main users of Hierarchy Manager’s web interface are the Government Markets Customer Care Center (GMCCC). They utilize the system to establish, maintain and query AHC to account key mappings.
DSM/HM has got 4 applications namely Nworx, Crossover, Calnet and CoLa. Calnet and CoLa is used to maintain the details of the AT & T customers for various purposes such as Billing, providing the customer data to external interfaces, providing the mapping of MCN-SFX-GRC and Agency Code to external interfaces etc. The prime motive of Calnet and CoLa is to maintain the mapping of MCN-SFX-GRC and Agency Code and the customers account details.
