IIITM-K invites applications for admission to the Ph.D. Programme starting in April 2013 in IT related topics in the areas of Distributed Computing, Software Engineering, Advanced Computing areas like High Performance Computing, Grid and Cloud Computing, Security, Computer Networks etc.

Eligibility :
i) For admission to the Ph.D. Programme a candidate must have a Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology with specialization Computer Science or IT, with a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 6.5 or 60% of marks.

ii) Only candidates who have qualified in the entrance test conducted by the university or National Eligibility Test conducted by the UGC / CSIR / ICAR / ICMR or GATE or State Level Eligibility Test conducted by Kerala Government or Fellowship awarded by KSCSTE are considered eligible to apply for registration for PhD research.

Area: Artificial Intelligence / Natural Language processing / Software Engineering / Advanced Computing areas like High Performance Computing, Grid and Cloud Computing / Distributed Computing etc.

Age limit : There is no age limit for Ph.D positions using SPEED IT

Selection :
i) Researchers will be selected on the basis of research aptitude test and personal interview conducted by IIITM-K of candidates who meet the standards prescribed by a University in Kerala. Those who have not qualified any of the examinations prescribed by University to register for Ph.D, should qualify the examination within one year, and then proceed for registration.

ii) Candidates must register for Ph.D programme with a University in Kerala latest by the next admission time in the respective Universities in any case not later than one year after the award. On approval by the University, the candidate should report to IIITM-K to carry out the research work in the area in which they are selected for fellowship. The University rules pertaining to research registration is applicable to candidates for registration.

Admission Schedule : The academic session of the Institute consists of two semesters. The first semester starts late in July and the second semester starts early in January. Admission to Ph.D. programmes is made at the beginning of the first as well as the second semester. The students joining the Ph.D. programme in between a semester will be allowed to register for the courses only from the beginning of the semester following the date of his / her joining. The commencement of the doctoral programme is normally from the date on which the candidate reports at IIITM-K as a research scholar after getting registered with the University.

Renewal of Registration : Every student on the rolls of the Institute, will be required to renew his/her registration in the beginning of every semester till the completion of his / her study programme to which admitted at the Institute.

Fee : Demand Draft for Rs. 200/- for General/ OBC candidates and Rs.100/- for SC/ST/PD candidates drawn in any nationalized bank and payable at SBI, Technopark

i) Application format can be downloaded from the website.

ii) Application form can also be obtained from the office of Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management - Kerala , IIITM-K building, Technopark Campus on or before 22 December, 2012. by ordinary post or in person. To receive application forms by post, send a request along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope (24cm x 15cm size). Request for form must be sent in an envelope super-scribed with `Request for Ph.D. Application form`.

iii) Completed application and required documents should be sent to

iv) `Application for Ph.D. admission' should be written on the top of the envelope for sending the completed form.

i) Date of Issue of Application Forms : 10 December 2012
ii) Last Date for issuing Application Forms is : 22 December 2012 (by post / in person)
iii) Last Date for receipt of completed Application Forms by IIITM-K : 15th January 2013
