Job Description
Selected candidates will be involved in the inspection of organic operations (farm production, processing & marketing activities) of our clients. The inspection job involves on site visit to the operations and verifying their compliance to applicable organic agriculture standards. - Currently working at Directorate of Oil Palm Research (formerly National Research Centre for Oil Palm, Pedavegi., as a Training Associate since 26th May 2008, under the project “ISOPOM” funded scheme entitled “Strengthening of Training on Oil Palm Production”.
Nature of work is that assisting to conduct the training programmes and involving in identifying training needs of farmers and officers and capacity building of professionals, (Agriculture/Horticulture officers, Scientist, Teachers of Agricultural Universities and Extension workers of Private Entrepreneurs) awareness campaigns, interface meets, field visits and farming community involved in oil palm development.
Training programmes being conducted are Oil Palm production technology, Oil Palm Nursery Management, Plant protection in Oil Palm, Oil Palm Hybrid seed production and soil and leaf nutrient analysis for officers. Oil Palm cultivation, Oil Palm plant protection and water and nutrient for Oil Palm for farmers.
- I worked as Research Associate for a period of four months ( 1st February 2008 to May 2008) Under Command Area Development Agency (CADA) Project entitled Farmer Field School(FFS) demonstrations and capacity building activities to farmers at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rudrur, Nizamabad District.
- Nature of work was to conduct the Farmer Field School (FFS) demonstrations and capacity building activities to farmers under Nizamsagar project command area. Conducting 25 FFS demonstrations to 25 Water Use Association (WUA) villages on Integrated Crop Management in Rice (ICM). Regular visits to farmer’s fields, conducting group discussions, training programmes to farmers and WUA members based on gap identified in each village.
- I worked as a Technical Person in one year project under Central Sector Scheme on Preparation for Plant Variety Protection and DUS testing through ICAR-SAU system during 2nd March 2007 to 31st January 2008 at Directorate of Oil Seeds Research, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
- Nature work was raising of experimental crop in the field and recording of observations for quantitative and qualitative traits in the field and laboratory for varietal characterization and evaluation of different genotypes in castor, sunflower and safflower.
- In addition to this I have done a tissue culture work on nodal culture in Pongamia Pinnata at DOR, Rajendranagar.
- Worked in All India Co-ordinated Rice Improvement Programme during Kharif, 2004 at Allahabad Agricultural Institute-Deemed University, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
- Nature work was raising of experimental paddy crop in field then identification of promising lines based on ideotype characteristics.
THESIS WORK
Title of M. Sc Dissertation: Studies on Genetic divergence for quality & grain yield in Basmati rice germ plasm.
Description: In my thesis study was undertaken to measure the forces of differentiation at intra and inter cluster levels and determine the relative contribution of each component trait to the total divergence. Thus it helps in the selection of genetically divergent parents for exploitation in hybridization programme. Main objects of my thesis are
1. Evaluation of nature and extent of Genetic Variability available in the basmati rice germplasm based on quantitative and quality characters.
2. Estimation of genetic parameters (PCV, GCV, Heritability and Genetic Advance).
3. Estimation of genetic distance among 34 genotypes of Basmati rice.
4. Selection of genetically divergent parents for hybridization programme.
