Responsibilities and Duties of Electrical Engineer
Reporting directly to EmGreen Solar Energy General manager, the Service Technician will assist in the start-up and testing of all photovoltaic systems coming online within the portfolio and will be responsible for the long-term operations and maintenance of the systems.

Candidates must have proven experience in the installation, testing, startup, troubleshooting and maintenance of solar PV systems. They must be experienced and knowledgeable in the fundamentals of electrical system design, installation, operation and maintenance in a commercial and industrial environment. Enthusiasm is a must, and the successful candidate will be a versatile self-starter who is willing and able to wear multiple hats without reservation. Practical electrical knowledge, troubleshooting skills and proven experience with solar PV monitoring systems and electrical testing are a must, as is extensive knowledge of electrical code and best practices in regards to commercial and industrial solar installations.

Requirements Skills and Experience :
Specific skills, knowledge and experience requirements for this position include :
** Demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience with basic solar design principals, electrical best practices, installation methods and operating principles and components, including;
o DC and AC components
o Inverters
o The relationship between voltage, current, resistance, distance and production
o Monitoring systems, including; system setup, troubleshooting, instrumentation and data communications (including internet connectivity through customer-owned firewalls)
** Solar PV system startup, testing, operation, repair and maintenance methods and protocols
** Practical, hands-on electrical, construction, maintenance and repair experience
** Ability to provide required repair and system upgrade work in order to maximize system efficiency and runtime in a safe manner with good workmanship
** Strong ability to execute on complete system troubleshooting, including through the use of third party resources such as inverter, DAS and other major component manufacturers’ technical support services
** Create and maintain strong relationships with site host maintenance and IT personnel
** Safe working practices, including;
o The appropriate use of personal protective equipment
o Electrical and mechanical isolation and energization principles and practices
** The use of the following software packages in an industrial environment;
o Microsoft Word
o Microsoft Excel
o Microsoft Outlook
o Adobe Acrobat

First-hand experience, knowledge and/or certifications in the following areas would be advantageous :
o Medium voltage electrical systems
o The National Electric Code
o Shading source identification and evaluation techniques
o The ability to prioritize multiple demands and tasks based on sound judgment and reasoning
o NABCEP Solar PV credentials
o An electrical contractors license
o Specific training and/or certifications by industry-leading inverter manufacturers

Energy Audit Experience :
** Carry out a detailed energy audit
** Quantify energy consumption and establish base line energy information for the projects
** Perform efficiency evaluation of energy & utility systems for the projects
** Compare energy norms with existing energy consumption levels in each project
** Identify and prioritization of energy saving measures in each projects
** Analyse technical and financial feasibility of energy saving measures
** Recommend energy efficient technologies and alternate energy sources
** Report writing, presentation and follow up for implementation
** Establish an energy conservation training to clients & prepare an annual activity plan
** Develop and manage training programme for energy efficiency at operating levels
** Develop integrated system of energy efficiency and environmental improvement
** Initiate activities to improve monitoring and process control to reduce energy costs
** Co-ordinate implementation of energy audit/efficiency improvement projects through
** Provide information to BEE and Designated Agency of the respective States as
** Design both Solar Thermal ( solar hot water ) and Solar Photovoltaic ( Solar PV) system.
** Follow up and coordinate between contractor and electric sub contractor.
** Develop some future project in energy efficiency, solar thermal, and solar PV.
