Applications are invited for the following temporary positions to work in the “DBT-Network Project on Brucellosis” at Department of Genetics, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University.

1.Name of the post : Junior Research Fellow

Consolidated Emoluments : 12,000 +15% HRA for first two years; 14,000+15% HRA for third year
Essential Qualifications :
i) Masters Degree (with at least 55 % marks) in Genomics / Bioinformatics / Computational Biology.
ii) Experience with Linux Operating Systems, Programming skills in scripting languages and script writing (e.g in Perl, Python)
Desired Qualifications :

2. Name of the post : System Administrator
No. of post :One
Consolidated Emoluments : 20,000 PM for first two years; 25,000 PM for third year
Essential Qualifications :
i) B.E Computer Eng / B.Tech Information Technology (First Class)
ii) Must have at least two year experience with Linux Operating System, Linux kernel compilation, Linux cluster/queue systems [torque/PBS], and general knowledge of systems administration (backups, file server configuration, services configuration, firewall configuration, server configuration)
iii) Must have Expereience in construction of databases in Relational Database Management Systems (eg. MySQL, Oracle, PostGreSQL);
iv) Essential to have understanding of standard service protocols like NFS, DNS, NIS, LDAP,DHCP; understanding of standard PC hardware (IDE / SCSI devices, 32 / 64 bit chip architectures) and experience with developing and working in the command line environment.
v) Essential to have programming skills in scripting languages and script writing (e.g in Perl, Python)
Desired Qualifications :
i) Familiarity with general molecular biology (e.g. sequence) data and biological analyses of these data
ii) Being “on call” for technical emergencies;
iii) Good verbal and written communication skills
