    NATIONAL MEANS CUM MERIT SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATION 2012 – 13

    Date of Examination : 30.12.2012

    The N.M.M.S. Examination for the academic year 2012 – 2013 will be held for the students of GOVT / GOVT AIDED / LOCAL BODY / CORPORATION currently studying in Std. VIII, and obtained SC, ST 50% and others 55% of marks in the VII Std. Examination at the annual level.

    The amount of scholarship will be Rs. 500/- per month (as per M.H.R.D. guidelines).

    The State Level examination will be conducted on in all the Educational District Headquarters of the State.

    The State reservation policy will be adopted, for the selection of candidates including 3% for physically challenged group of students.

    Students of Class VIII studying in recognized GOVT / GOVT AIDED / LOCAL BODY / CORPORATION Schools are eligible to appear for this examination.

    The pattern of written Examination for Class VIII will be as follows :-
    There will be 90 questions each in Mental Ability Test and Scholastic Aptitude Test. Each question carries one mark.

    The time allowed is 90 minutes for MAT and SAT Examination, separately.

    The question format for SAT will be based on the syllabus for Class VII and VIII as prescribed by the State Board.

    For SAT paper, the number of questions allocated for each subject will be as follows :
    Science 35, Mathematics 20, Social Science 35

    Visually challenged candidates are allowed 30 minutes extra time for both MAT and SAT Examinations. As per the quota allotted for the State by the MHRD, Government of India, 6695 candidates will be selected in this Examination.

    Application form may be downloaded from the Directorate of Government Examinations website. dge.tn.nic.in from 01.11.2012 to 09.11.2012.

    After filling the application form, the candidates should remit a fee for Rs.50/- in the challan available along-with the application, in any one of the Treasury/Sub-Treasury of the State Government. Any other mode of payment viz. Demand Draft/Cheque/Postal Orders will not be accepted and the filled in applications should be handover to the respective Headmasters/Headmistress of the school on or before 09.11.12 with necessary enclosures.
