    It is hereby notified that under Article 233 of the Constitution of India read with the provisions of the Karnataka Judicial Services (Recruitment) Rules, 2004 and (Amendment) Rules 2011, the High Court of Karnataka proposes to recommend 17 (SEVENTEEN) members of the Bar for appointment as District Judges by Direct Recruitment.

    Minimum Qualifications :
    i) Must be holder of a degree in law granted by a University established by law in India;
    ii) Must be practicing as an Advocate in the High Court or in a Subordinate Court on the last date fixed for receipt of Applications and must have so practiced for a period not less than SEVEN years as on such date.

    Probation :- A candidate selected will be initially on probation for TWO years or for extended period, if necessary, and he/she must undergo such Training as may be specified by the High Court.

    Competitive Examination For Direct Recruitment :
    The Competitive examination for Recruitment of District Judges shall consist of
    (i) written examination of two papers each of three hours duration with 150 maximum marks for each paper – One in Civil law and another in Criminal law.
    ii) a viva-voce examination with 100 maximum marks.

    Application Fee : Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only)
    Crossed Indian Postal Order payable in favour of the Registrar General, Principal Bench, High Court of Karnataka, Bangalore – 560 001.

    Examination Fee :
    i) The Fee prescribed in respect of competitive examination payable by each candidates shall be Rs.1000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) but, in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/Cat-I the fee payable shall be Rs.750/- (Rupees Seven Hundred and Fifty only).
    ii) The fee should be remitted into any of the State Government Treasuries under the Head “0070-Other Administrative Services-01-501-0-03- Examination Fees” and the original Treasury receipt obtained thereof should be sent along with the application.

    How to Apply :
    i) Those who are desirous of being considered for appointment to the above posts are required to furnish the particulars in the prescribed form of Application, which can be obtained from the office of the Registrar General, High Court of Karnataka, Bangalore.

    ii) Application forms by post, may send a self addressed envelope measuring 25 x 12 cms, affixed with Rs.30/- (Rupees Thirty only) postal stamps along with the postal order.

    iii) Duly filled up application along with the required documents should be kept in a cover super-scribed as “ APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF DISTRICT JUDGE” and submitted by tendering it in the office of the Registrar General, Principal Bench, High Court of Karnataka, Bangalore-560 001, or by Registered Post, so as to reach the office of the

    Can I write exam in Kannada?

    It is compulsory for all the candidates to answer atleast one of the papers in English language only and in so far as the other paper is concerned, it shall be optional for the candidates to answer the same either in English or in Kannada.
