    Department of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications for the post of Director General of the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), an autonomous society based at Shillong. The centre is envisaging to play a unique and special role in building technology partnership of the Central with the state governments in the North East Region (NER). NECTAR will serve as a networking organization promoting the deployment of technologies. The untapped potentials of several technologies in possession of technology institutions under the central sector could be gainfully and innovatively deployed by state government in resource management and planning. NECTAR will build into its capacity the ability to address the last mile problems of technology outreach. Techno-social skills required for the function of technology reach will form a special feature of the centre. Solution design would call for intimate analysis of nature of problems in the socio-economic context of North Eastern States. The Centre will strive to create a two way information flow from State Governments in NER and R&D Organization in the Central Sector.

    Name of the post : Director General
    Qualifications : Essential - Master’s degree from a recognized University/Institute.

    Experience :
    I - Having 10 years’ regular service in a post in Pay Band- 4 [Rs.37400-67000/-] with Grade Pay Rs. 10000/- and at least two years of service in a post in HAG Scale [67000-79000] or equivalent,

    II - At least 15 years of experience in the Senior Management Level of which a minimum of 5 years be in a Scientific Department/ Organization/Institution, which, may include handling of Scientific projects and interacting with State Governments, National/International agencies, technology applications and in field adoption, technology appraisal relating to networking of various stakeholders.

    III - Working experience in State Government(s) for better understanding of systems/working methodology of the states as well as in Government of India in order to connect NECTAR to both State and Central Government agency.

    IV - Having experience of dealing with North Eastern State Governments/projects relating to North Eastern States.

    Desirable :
    (i) Good working experience/ exposure of commercial activities in Central/State Government Institutions/PSUs/Boards;
    (ii) Replication of innovations, and experience of working in backward and rural areas having interaction with farmers, the rural poor etc.
    (iii) Experience of handling/supervising scientific projects in any Scientific Department/Organization.

    Mode of Selection and Terms of Office : Recruitment/Selection for the post of Director General shall be made through Deputation/Direct Recruitment/ on Contract.

    I would like to ask that what is the duration of contract period.

    On Contract appointment the Director General shall hold office for a term of four years from the date on which he enters upon his office and shall be eligible for extension by another two years subject to prevailing guidelines.
