    1st National Law and Governance Essay Competition 2012-2013
    Introductory Note :
    The Centre for Law and Governance, ILNU is proud to announce its 1st National Law and Governance essay competition. As an aspiration to stimulate its aim of proliferating new thoughts and research skills, the competition is designed to motivate students and young professionals to applt their tenderfoot genius to the complex world of Legal governance.

    Themes :
    ** Judicial Accountability Bill - Need & Consequences
    ** Right to Information Act - Analysis & Activism
    ** Inference of Lokpal & Lokayukta - Transperency & Accountability
    ** Evolving role of CAG in ensuring transperency & accountability
    ** Impact of promotion is SC/ST & OBC quota in public employment
    ** Social Networking Websites vis-a-vis Art. 19(1)(a) of the Constitution
    ** Role of Communication & Communication Management in Law

    Important Dates :
    Last date of submission of essay : 5th December, 2012
    Result Declaration : 16th January, 2013
    Dispatchment of Certificates : 31st January, 2013

    Prizes :
    1st Prize - Rs.10,000
    2nd Prize - Rs. 7,000
    3rd Prize - Rs. 5,000
    4th Prize - Rs. 3,000
    5th Prize - Rs. 2,000

    5 Consolation Prizes :
    2 General Consolation Prize - Rs. 1000
    3 Exclusive 1st year student Prize - Rs. 1000

    Eligibility :
    ** The contest is open to all undergraduate law students (3/5 year course) as well as L.L.M students.
    ** A maximum of two students can participate together.

    Participation Fees :
    All contestants have to pay an entry fee of Rs. 200/- to take part in the competition, via demand draft as per the guidelines mentioned on the website.

    How to Submit?

    All the essays to be submitted on clg.ilnu@gmail.com

    Submission guidelines :
    Word Limit: the submission must be between 3500 – 5000 words.

    Covering Letter : All submissions must be accompanied with a covering letter, indicating:
    ** the name of the author
    ** title of the essay
    ** name of the University and institute
    ** year of study
    ** A clear contact address of the author, including the e-mail address & phone number
    ** If there are more than two authors then any one author’s no and address is required
    Submissions must be in MS Word.

    Main Text :
    Times New Roman, font size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified, with a margin left 1.5 inch and right 1.0 inch, top 1inch and bottom 1 inch. The first line of the paragraph is not to be indented.

    Foot Notes :
    Times New Roman, font size 10. Substantive foot notes are accepted.

    Citation :
    The Bluebook:
    A Uniform Method of Citation, 18th Edition is to be used.

    References :
    The style of referencing should be as follows :
    ** Books : Robbins, Stephen P, and Coulter, Mary (2011). Law, New Delhi: Pearson Education.
    ** Papers In Journal : McGRegor, D (1957), “Uneary Look at Performance Appraisal, Harvard Business Review, 35 (1) 89-94.

    Exclusive Submission Policy :
    All submissions to the competition should be original and should not be simultaneously considered by any other publication.

    All the selected essay would be published in the Centre for Law & Governance Publication.
