DESCRIPTION : The main objective of the project was to eliminate the problems encountered in the axle ball joint assembly, which is used manufacture axle ball joints. The reasons for the decreased productivity were identified and steps were taken to sort out these problems. The main problems encountered in the axle ball joint assembly were high cost of labour due to more man power in assembly station and time consuming due to more station. The problems encountered were sorted by designing a new Unit, which reduces the set up time by reasonable amount. With the new design, the set up time can be decreased by considerable amount and this time saved results in increased production and also there was reduction in the man power require.
