Applications are invited in the prescribed form on or before 12th October, 2012 (Friday) from the Indian citizens (both men and women) for a Competitive Examination to be held in Kolkata for recruitment to the post of Assistant Manager (Law) in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Two panels (one main panel against clear vacancies and one supplementary panel against subsequent vacancies that may occur from time to time during the validity of such panel) will be prepared in order of merit on the result of the Recruitment Examinations. These panels will remain valid for one year only from the date of its publication.

Essential Qualification :
i) A degree in Law from a Recognized University or its equivalent.
ii) At least 3 years’ experience as a practicing advocate in the court of law.

An application fee of Rs.220=00 (Rupees Two Hundred & Twenty) shall be paid only in the form of Bank Draft drawn in favour of “Secretary, Municipal Service Commission” payable at Kolkata

Method of Recruitment : The recruitment examination will be held in two successive stages viz.,
i) Written Test consisting of Paper-I & Paper-II-both 100 marks each
(ii) Personality Test-20 marks.
Paper-I :
a) English (Composition, Essay & Precis writing)-30 marks.
b) Current Affairs – 20 marks. 100 marks
c) Constitution of India – 50 marks. Total : 100 marks
Paper-II :
a) Land Acquisition Act, 1884.
b) The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986).
c) The Civil Procedure Code, 1908 (5 of 1908) (Sections only).
d) The Criminal Procedure Code, 1973 ( 2 of 1974).
e) The Evidence Act, 1872 (1 of 1872).
f) The Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860).
g) The Right to Information Act, 2005 Total : 100 marks
Duration of the Examination for Paper-I is 2 (Two hours) and that of for Paper-II is 2½ (Two and a half hours).
Personality Test : About 3 (three) times of the strength of the panels will be called for Personality Test in order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written test subject to a qualifying marks which are 45% for General and OBC-B categories and 40% for SC , ST and OBC-A categories.

I am Mr. Ashis Kumar Maji. I have applied for law assistant in Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Till now I have not got my admit card. What would I do now?

Admit Cards for the examination will be sent to the eligible candidates. No candidate shall be allowed to enter the examinationhall unless he/she holds valid Admit Card. Admission to the Examination will be deemed provisional subject to determination of his/her eligibility.
