Description

The suspension system used by old SAE SUPRA vehicle was direct acting coil type. This type of suspension had drawbacks. The main drawback was the increase in aerodynamic drag due to suspension components which were obstructing the air stream. Also it is heavy and cumbersome and difficult to adjust. The older suspension geometry resulted in higher roll center from the ground. The new design uses pushrod suspension system and aims to lower the roll center hieght, make the suspension compact and easily adjustable. The main advantage of the push rod type suspension is to reduce the aerodynamic drag, this is achieved by installing the suspension components inside the body frame of the vehicle. The design was analysed in OptimumKinematics software and results were found.
