5th GNLU International Moot Court Competition 2013 :
Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is one of the premier law universities in India established in 2003 by the State Legislature of Gujarat with the intent of raising the bar of legal education in the country. The university has consistently strived to make its mark in the legal fraternity through various academic and socio-legal initiatives and activities and the GNLU International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) is one of the most noteworthy attempts towards this goal.
Since its inception in 2009, GNLU International Moot Court Competition (GIMC) has acquired popularity and respect in the national as well as international arena. The past four editions of GIMC have received due recognition from prestigious organizations such as the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the International Law Students Association (ILSA) and the Asian Society of International Law (ASIAN SIL).
GNLU International Moot Court Competition, 2013 is the 5th edition of GNLU’s flagship moot court competition and with this edition we aim to surpass our past success and establish ourselves as one of the best international trade law moot court competitions. GIMC ‘13 anticipates a greater international participation thereby promising to be diverse and intellectually stimulating affair.
The moot problem, together with distinguished judges presents a challenge to be overcome only by the team truly worthy of the GIMC ‘13 winners’ trophy. Sweet victory awaits the team which shows perspicacity, clarity of thought, thorough research and composure and presents it all with flair and eloquence.
Eligibility :
**The Competition is open to all students, enrolled bonafide on a regular basis in an Undergraduate/Post Graduate law course or its equivalent conducted by any recognized Institution/College/University. Those students who are pursuing any Trade Law course/programme conducted by any recognized Institution/College/University are also eligible to apply. However in such cases, the final discretion would lie with the O. C.
**Any recognized Institution/College/University shall be entitled to send only one team to the Competition.
**The Team shall comprise of a minimum of two Members and a maximum of three Members. In a Team comprising of two Members, both the Members shall be designated as Orators. In a Team comprising of three Members, the third Member of the team shall be designated as Researcher.
**Any additional Member or Team Coach of any Team shall not be recognized and will not be entitled to a certificate from the O.C.
Structure of the Competition :
The Competition Rounds shall be held over a period of five days from February 6, 2013 to February 10, 2013. The inaugural function and the orientation of Participants will be held on February 6, 2013.
The Competition shall consist of 4 Rounds :
**The Preliminary Rounds;
**The Quarter Finals;
**The Semi Finals; and
**The Final
Last date for submission on September 15, 2012
Awards :
**The winning Team shall be awarded a Trophy and a cash prize of INR 35,000.
**The runners up Team shall be awarded a cash prize of INR 20,000.
**The best Written Submission award carries a cash prize of INR 6,000 and a Black’s Law Dictionary to each member of the team.
**The Team with the second best Written Submission shall be awarded a Merit Certificate.
**The best Orator in the preliminary rounds shall be awarded a Merit Certificate. To determine the best Orator, the marks awarded to each Orator in the preliminary rounds shall be considered.
**The best Orator in the final round shall be awarded a Merit Certificate.

Registration Procedure :
**Please fill out all the sections of the Registration Form for participation in the 5th GNLU International Moot Court Competition, 2013. The Team Registration Form should reach via post to the Organizing Committee no later than September 15, 2012 11 :59 PM IST. Registration Forms received after this deadline will not be considered for participation in the competition.

**The Registration Fees shall be payable in pursuance of “Rule 1.2” as provided in the Rules for Registration attached herein as the ANNEXURE. Once the Registration Fees is paid, refund if any, shall take place only in pursuance of “Rule 1.5” of the Rules of Registration. Please specify the mode of payment in “Part B” of the Registration Procedure and provide the requested information, if applicable.
**Upon receipt of the Team Registration Form and the Team Registration Fees, the registered team shall be assigned a ‘Team Code’ which will be sent to the team’s Official Team Contact Person.
