    GEOLOGISTS’ EXAMINATION, 2012
    A competitive examination for recruitment to the posts mentioned in para 2 below will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing from the 1st December, 2012 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Mines in the Gazette of India dated the 15th September, 2012

    Category I : (Posts in the Geological Survey of India, Ministry of Mines).
    (i)Name of the post : Geologist, Group “A”
    No. of post : 300
    Age Limit : 21 to 32 years on 1st August, 2012

    (ii)Name of the post : Assistant Geologist Grade-I (Group 'B')
    No. of post : 67
    Age Limit : 21 to 32 years on 1st August, 2012

    Category II : (Posts in the Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Water Resources)
    (i) Name of the post :Jr. Hydrogeologists (Scientist B), Group “A”
    No. of post : 03
    Age Limit : 21 to 35 years on 1st August, 2012

    (ii)Name of the post : Assistant Hydrogeologists, Group “B”
    No. of post : 12
    Age Limit : 21 to 30 years on 1st August, 2012

    Minimum Educational Qualification :
    Geologist, Assistant Geologist :
    (a) Master’s degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo- Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science and Resource Management or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Petroleum Geosciences or Geochemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956)
    (b) Candidates who have appeared at the final examinations of the minimum educational qualification specified in clause (a) of this paragraph, passing of which shall render them eligible to appear at the relevant year Examination, but have not been informed of the result, may also apply for admission to the Examination and in such case his or her admission to the relevant year Examination shall be provisional and subject to obtaining minimum educational qualification specified in clause (a) of this paragraph.
    (c) A candidate who is otherwise qualified but who possesses the Master’s degree specified in clause (a) of this paragraph from a foreign University approved by the Government may also be admitted to the Examination by the Commission.

    Jr. Hydrogeologists, Assistant Hydrogeologists :
    (a)Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational Institutes established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; or
    (b) Master’s degree in Hydrogeology from a recognised University.

    Fee : Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/Master Credit/ Debit Card.

    What is the procedure to pay the fee for the examination?

    There are three options for the payment of fee-Pay
    i) by Cash in any branch of State Bank of India,
    ii) Pay by credit/debit Card and
    iii) Pay by Net Banking facility of SBI.

    An applicant who wants to pay the fee by cash should take a print of the PAY-IN SLIP by clicking on the option "Print Bank Pay-in-Slip". Making use of this pay-in-slip, an applicant can deposit the fee in cash at any branch of the State Bank of India. The bank will not accept any other challan/form for the payment of fee by cash. After depositing the fee by this pay-in-slip, the bank will provide a "TRANSACTION ID". An applicant will again have to log in and start submission of the part-II of the online application.

    An applicant can also pay the fee online using the internet banking facility of the State Bank of India.

    An applicant can also pay the fee online using any VISA/MASTER DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD issued by any bank/institution.
