I am currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree program in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra and shall be completing my 6th semester shortly. As part of my courses, I have been exposed to fields of I.C engines, Reciprocating Steam engines, Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machines, Strength of Materials,metallurgy, Machine Design, Manufacturing Processes, CAD/CAM etc. which I find very interesting.

Pursuing my interests, I have made some attempts in self – learning in this domain and have developed interests in Engineering design, Carburetor systems, Metallurgy etc. as well. I took up a term assignment, outside my course requirements, on design and simulation of cams used in I.C engines.

I wish to enhance my knowledge further through exposure to the latest & upcoming technology and research topics and therefore intend to pursue a 6 – 8 week industrial internship during the months of May, 2010 to July, 2010 in a prestigious organization as yours. Ideally, I am interested on working with the R&D team on some on-going research, but shall be open to discuss and undertake any other project as you might suggest / require.
I bring with me the curiosity of a child along with the discipline & diligence of a bee and I believe that these qualities will help me make the most out of this opportunity. I shall endeavor to give my best as part of the project team.

I strongly believe that this exposure would not only serve as a technically challenging & mentally simulating exercise and add to my knowledge on the subject but shall also give me insights on how teams work towards a common objective but still allow individual creativity to blossom in a technology driven environment. Project Overview
This project deals with the analysis that has been carried out on the extended surfaces to determine temperature distribution. So far in the analysis of fins, radiation heat transfer has not been taken into account, as it makes the analysis and hence the differential equation complex. In this project, radiation mode is included. The governing equation is obtained, through complex, and has been solved using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). An algorithm is developed to predict the temperature along the fin. It has been observed that the radiation mode which has not been included so far should be considered in the analysis of fins.
Future Trends : This project will enhance the design process.
