Ph.D. Entrance Notification

The Veer Narmad South Gujarat University invites application in prescribed form for the 'Entrance Test' of Ph.D. Programme in the Faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Medicine, Law and Education.

Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat announces holding of first round of Entrance Examinations for eligibility for admission to Degree of Doctor of Philosophy on Sunday 30th September, 2012 during 12.30p.m. to 2.30p.m. at the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Campus, Udhna Magdalla Road, Surat.

Fee : Rs.1000/- only by cash or through DD in favour of "Registrar Veer Narmad South Gujarat University"

Condition of eligibility :
Master Degree with at least 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST/PH candidates) from this or any other university recognized by the U.G.C. and Student who has passed the M. D. / M. S. or M. Sc. ( Medical) Degree examination from this or any other university recognized by the M. C. I. Those student who have Diploma Degree in Medicine Faculty, shall have 1 (one) year professional experience for the said subject. State Medical Council/MCI registration is a precondition for appearing for Ph.D. Entrance Exam 2012 (In Medical Faculty) and its proof should be submitted.

Allotment of Seats :
(1) 50% weightage for JRF/NET/SLET/M.Phil, the rest of 50% weightage will be given to Entrance Test.
(2) JRF students will be admitted first.

Scheme and Syllabus:
The test shall consist of the requirement of proficiency and skill in 'Research Aptitude', 'Language of Communication' (English Language only) and the 'knowledge of the Concerned Subject'.In case of interdisciplinary studies, the candidate can appear in subject of his/her Choice.
Paper Style of Written Test:
The 'Entrance Test' shall consist of Two papers, All the questions will be asked in the form of multiple choice types of questions. The details are as under :
Structure of Written Test:
Paper – I
(i) General awareness: reasoning and judgment, general knowledge
(ii) English Language Skill: Vocabulary, word formation, Marks = 100
pronunciation, punctuation, transformation, concordance, tenses,
articles, phrases (English language only)
Paper – II
Subject Knowledge(up to Master Level Course in the relevant subject)

1. Each question carries two marks.

I have been exempted through the degree of M.Phil for Ph.d entrance test and i had sent my application form through post. I want to know about the next procedure.

General Instructions:
1. The application form may be downloaded from the University website www.vnsgu.ac. in The duly filled in application form shall be accepted in person at Postgraduate Section, University during 11.00 a.m.to 4.00 p.m. on all working days along with the necessary fees prescribed for the Eligibility Test.
2. Candidates must affix their recent passport size photograph at places indicated in the Application form, Admit card.
3. Candidates must read the conditions of eligibility before submitting application form.
4. The Applications shall be submitted preferably in person only. Applications received after the last date shall be rejected.
5. No TA/DA shall be admissible to the candidate.
6. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the Candidate.
7. Candidates must bring their proof of photo-identityat the time of examination.
8. The decision of Vice-Chancellor shall be final in all matters of Ph.D. Entrance Test

Note:
1. The number of seats will be decided by the University as per the vacant seats, availability of suitable Guide, Laboratory and other facilities available. The above mentioned number of vacancies are tentative.

What is passing criteria for Ph.D entrance test in 2012?

1. In case of M. Phil./NET/SLET/GATE Students if the No. of Candidates are more than the total No.
of Seats. the Seats will be allotted based on external marks of P.G. degree.
2. In case of P.G. students, seats will be allotted based on the performance entrance test.
3. No student can claim the final Admission merely on the basis of JRF/NET/GATE/SLET/M.Phil or Clearance of Entrance Test.The Admission shall be Strictly given on the basis satisfactory presentation of their Proposal and Subsequent approval by the Research Studies Committee (RSC).
4. Students can apply in concerned Interdisciplinary Subjects of their interest. The Final decision shall be taken by the concerned RSC.
