I) These rules and regulations shall be called Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Revised Rules 2012-13 (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree.)
ii) They shall be applicable to every Ph.D. programme offered by Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University.
iii) These rules are framed in consonance with UGC Regulation 2009 (Minimum Standard and Procedure for Award of Ph.D. Degree and subsequent notifications).

OBJECTIVES :
a) The Research for Ph.D. degree is intended to train the students to undertake further independent research.
b) To obtain reasonable competence in a body of the knowledge in a particular area of a subject related to the theme of his / her research and
c) To make a significant contribution for extending further the horizon of knowledge in the area of his / her study or interest

ELIGIBILITY :
i) A candidate will be considered eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme in the subject or in any allied subject in which he / she has obtained a Master's Degree or equivalent examination with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST category students) from a recognized University.
ii) The candidate working in National Laboratories, Government Research Institutes, registered Non Government Organizations, having the above qualification will also be considered eligible for admission for Ph.D. programme provided he / she is deputed / sponsored by the employer. He / she will have to submit "No Objection Certificate" from the employer and will have to appear for “All India Entrance Test” conducted by the University.
iii) The then existing rules of eligibility prescribed by various statutory councils will also be applicable for admission to Ph.D. programmes of this University.
iv) In an exceptional circumstances, a person who is holding a senior position in a government service, or has been in any profession for atleast 10 years, or made significant contribution in different fields, such as Education, Law, Health, Trade, Commerce, Industry etc. will also be considered eligible for a direct admission to Ph.D. programme, subject to the fulfillment of other conditions of eligibility as may be prescribed by the University from time-to-time.

2. Date and time of Ph.D. programme Entrance Test 09/09/2012 11.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
3. Centres for All India Entrance Test for Ph.D. Programme Pune, Navi Mumbai and New Delhi
4. Date of Viva-Voce examination 13/09/2012 onwards
5. Date of declaration of merit list 25/09/2012
6. Date of Commencement of Ph.D. course 27/09 /2012

Application form can be obtained by post, across the counter or can be filled in on-line. The duly completed application form must be accompanied by a Demand Draft for Rs. 2000/- towards processing fee drawn in favour of The Registrar, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune on any Nationalized bank or Bharati Sahakari bank and Payable at Pune. This fee is non refundable.
