Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following post tenable in the CSIR- National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), Thiruvananthapuram, a premier research Institute of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The Institute has been engaged in R&D programmes in five broad areas of research namely (i) Agro processing & Natural Products, (ii) Biotechnology, (iii) Chemical Sciences & Technology, (iv) Materials & Minerals and (v) Process Engineering & Environmental Technology. NIIST is looking for bright and highly dedicated candidates for the following technical positions

1.Name of the post : Technical Officer, Gr.III(3)
No. of post : 1
Pay scale PB-2 : RS. .9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs.4600/-
Essential Qualifications : B.E/B.Tech in Instrumentation/ Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks
Desirable : Two years hands on Experience in maintenance, routine operation and trouble shooting of High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscope/ Atomic Force Microscope/Scanning Tunnelling Microscope/Scanning Electron Microscope and the related sample preparation techniques.
Job Requirement : Routine operation, maintenance, trouble shooting of FEI model 300KV High Resolution Electron Microscope and the related sample preparation equipments such as ultrasonic disc cutter, disc grinder, dimple grinder, carbon coater, and ion milling system of the Institute.
Age limit not exceeding : 30 years as on 10.09.2012.

2. Name of the post : Technical Assistant, Gr.III(1)
No. of post : 1
Pay scale PB-2 : Rs. 9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs.4200/-
Essential Qualifications :1st class Diploma in Computer Engg./Tech. of 3 years full time duration or its equivalent after 10+2 in Science Stream.
Desirable :One year experience in an R&D institution as a supporting staff in research activities. Knowledge in computer aided design of molecular architectures, software such as endnote X4, reference manager, origin, shade, strata etc.
Job Requirement :Computer aided design of molecular architectures, animation of chemical processes, use of endnote, reference manager, application of softwares such as shade, strata etc.
Age limit not exceeding : 28years as on 10.09.2012.

3. Name of the post : Technical Assistant, Gr.III(1)
No. of post : 1
Pay scale of PB-2 :Rs.9300-34800 with Grade Pay Rs.4200/-
Essential Qualifications :1st class B.Sc degree in Chemistry with one year full time professional qualification in industrial training/industrial analysis from a recognized Institute/Organization
Desirable :Experience in carrying out chemical analysis of environmental samples for water/soil/metals/non-metals etc . Hands on experience in running computer operated sophisticated analytical instruments such as UV/VIS spectrophotometer/GC etc in a reputed organization.
Job Requirement :To assist in the chemical/ instrumental analysis of environmental samples and maintenance/upkeep of the analytical facilities.
Age limit not exceeding : 28years as on 10.09.2012.
