Advertisement for Admission to Ph.D Program of Department of Physics

Applications are invited for admission to Department of Physics, University of Calcutta (92 Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata 700009) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D degree in Physics.

Eligibility :
Candidates who have already passed UGC/ CSIR(JRF) Examinations/ NET/ SET/ SLET/ GATE/ Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech or equivalent examination need not appear at the written examination, but have to appear at the interview. Candidates who have appeared in the final semester of the qualifying examination can also apply. Final marksheet showing that the candidate has indeed passed that qualifying examination should be produced at the time of joining the Ph.D. programme.

Fee :
Application Fee of Rs. 100/- through a challan obtainable from College Street Campus (Sales Counter).

Written Exam :
The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ examination of 1 hour duration to be held in this Department on July 30, 2012 at 12-00 hr.

Syllabus :
The syllabus of this examination is the Physics M.Sc. syllabus of this University excluding Elective and Advanced Papers.

Interview :
The successful candidates will be called for an interview on August 1 and August 2, 2012.
The final selection for joining this Department as a Ph.D. student will be on the basis of this interview.
