Applications are invited for appointment to the following temporary posts of the Research Project entitled “ Development of Saltol / Sub1 mega rice varieties for flood prone salt affected areas and standardization of production technology”. Qualification / Experience : Ph.D (Biotech ) or M.Sc (Biotech) with experience in Marker Assisted Breeding in rice for a minimum period of 3 years.

Name of position : Senior Research Fellows
Number of posts : 4
Remuneration (Rs/- p.m) : 18,000/-
Qualification / Experience :
M.Sc (Ag) in Plant Biotech / M.Sc (Biotechnology) - 3 posts
M.Sc(Ag) in Pl.Path - 1 post
Experience in MAS / Molecular work is desirable

Remuneration (Rs/- p.m) : 10,000/-
Qualification / Experience : M.Sc (Ag) in Plant Biotech / M.Sc (Biotechnology)

Brief account of research work :
The project envisages introgression of Saltol gene and Sub-1 gene into three major varieties of rice simultaneously and pyramiding of both genes into each variety at the final stage. It also involves hybridisation, phenotyping, in-vitro screening in hydroponics, DNA isolation, electrophoresis & genotyping using genetic markers, apart from parental polymorphism study and selection of both foreground & background markers for each variety and pest and disease screening of rice.
