Udayan Shalini Fellowships
Udayan in Sanskrit signifies 'eternal sunrise'. Shalini means 'a dignified woman'. Udayan Shalini Fellowships is an academic excellence and personality development programme for girls from weak socio-economic backgrounds. It provides financial assistance for higher education, mentoring and leadership development through workshops, while facilitating a sense of social responsibility and aims to turn them into dignified women.

ELIGIBILITY :
Female Indian citizen, permanent resident of Delhi / Kurukshetra / Kolkata / Dehradun / Aurangabad & Phagwara.
Candidates are required to obtain admission to the desired school, prior to seeking Fellowship.
The applicant should be in class 11th from Government school.
Minimum marks required for academic courses are 60% in class 10th.
Total income of the family members/ guardian not to exceed Rs. 96, 000/- per year.
Although we assess the applicants on all the three parameters i.e. NAT (Need, Ambition and Talent), but the maximum importance is given to NEED.

SELECTION PROCESS :
Application to be made on the prescribed form. Last date of the receipt of form is 31st July. Application forms can be collected from our office or downloaded from our website (www.udayancare.org) from 1st July onwards.
All applications shall be screened on NAT Parameters. Short-listed candidates shall be called for a written test by the selection committee. Venue of written test for Delhi : Mahavir Senior Model School, Opp. Nanak Piao Gurudwara, G. T. Karnal Road, Delhi – 110033. For the other state, kindly contact to respective offices.
Those who qualify the written test are interviewed along with their parents / guardian.
Home visit will be conducted for those who qualify in the interview
Those selected would be called for induction and orientation.
The selection will be done by the Udayan Shalini Fellowship core committee

FELLOWSHIP AMOUNT :
Senior Secondary School (Class 11th & 12th ) Rs.8000/- per year in four equal installments
The Board periodically reviews these requirements and makes changes if and when required and its decision is final and abiding

RULES & REGULATIONS :
The Udayan Shalini Fellowship is voluntary and not a matter of claim. The beneficiaries enjoy it solely at the will and pleasure of the organization. It can be withdrawn at any time without assigning any reason. The fellows’ performance will be reviewed periodically. Hence it should not be taken as a guarantee for future studies. Besides the privilege vested in the organization to withdraw the Fellowship, a beneficiary will cease to be a member of the fellowship and will not be entitled to any benefit under the following conditions :
If the information at the time of application furnished is found to be false.
If the beneficiary or family member misuses/ misappropriates the whole or any part of the aid, example spends the amount other than where it should be spent.
If the parents or guardians at any point of time in future become financially capable of supporting their daughter / beneficiary, (In which case the fellowship would pass on to another beneficiary).
If in the opinion of committee, the beneficiary fails in any of the three parameters i.e Need, Ambition, Talent at the time of yearly evaluation. If the beneficiary is found to be engaged in any activity contrary to the aims and the objectives of the organization.
The Fellowship period will be 2 to 6 years subject to yearly evaluation on the basis of pre decided parameters. (A Fellow scoring 60% marks shall continue to receive Fellowship next year)
The Fellowship will be over the moment the study or the vocation is over.
In case of a Fellow changing her course of study in between, her Fellowship for the said course shall be terminated. She will have to fill up readmission form along with an application for her reasons for changing the course. The Committee’s decision on this would be final.
If the Trustees decide to discontinue or stop the said fellowship for any beneficiary, or otherwise stop the entire scheme by the resolution of the trustees, the scheme as a whole or in respect of any individual beneficiary shall stand ineffective forthwith
All Udayan Shalini Fellows are expected to devote 50 hours per year toward social work.
Every schoolfellow would need to be in regular contact with the mentor assigned to her.
Fellows, who get selected, if they have to move away from Delhi for studies would still be supported if the committee approves of it.
The person, whose Fellowship is withdrawn, for any reason may file a representation to the Managing Trustee and the same shall be considered by the Committee. The Committee's decision would be final.
If a Fellow discontinues her course due to severe health conditions or family situations, she may be given another chance if the Committee gives its approval.
