Admission to Ph.D. Programme for Academic Year 2012-13

The Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati invites applications for its Ph.D. Programme in following specified disciplines:
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Fishery Science.

The Ph.D. Programme of the Institute is affiliated to the Gauhati University.

Minimum qualifications :
** Masters degree in relevant subject from recognised University/Institution with consistently good academic records.
** NET/GATE qualified candidates will be preferred.
** Those who are appearing for M.Sc. final semester/year exam. 2012 may also apply.

Age limit : 28 years as on 01-01-2012.

Selection procedure :
a. Only short listed candidates will be called for interview.
b. Selected candidates will be enrolled provisionally as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at IASST. Selected candidates will have to clear the Gauhati University entrance test for the Ph.D. programme in one attempt. Failing which fellowship will be terminated. IASST will provide a fellowship/stipend of Rs. 16,000/- per month (for first two years) and Rs. 18,000/- per month (in the third year) and other admissible allowances as per rules of the Institute.
c. Fellowship will be initially for a period of one year and extendable up to three years based on performance.

i) The application form can be downloaded from the website.
ii) Applications must accompany complete BIODATA in the format and two recent passport size photographs and attested copies of mark sheets and certificates. Each page of the document should be signed by the candidate. Complete application should be sent to the
