Duties As Direct Caregiver :-
Assessing Planning implementation and evaluating daily individual patient care.
- Assessing physical, psychological and psychosocial needs of the client.
- Monitoring vital signs of the client.
- Monitoring Glass grow coma scal – to assess the level of consciousness. Papillary response to light also monitored changes are daily recorded and reported in case of emergency.
- Maintaining paten airway-by tracheal & oral suctioning, chest physiotherapy & by administration of oxygen.
- Assisting for various procedures such as : Lumber puncture, tracheaostmoy, peritoneal dialysis, ET intubation, venous cut down.
- Monitoring fluid-electrolyte balance – Intravenous canalization, administering intravenous fluids monitoring and maintaining adequate record of intake and output sending blood samples for investigation and evaluating the lab-values.
- Administering dugs – Oral, sublingual, intravenous, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intra tracheal, intracardiac. Administering drugs and fluids via infusion pumps.
- Monitoring blood glucose values – Bedside blood glucose and urine sugar ketone are monitored with dextostix and with use of glucometer.
- Emergency patient care – Assisting and performing CPR & Assisting in endotracheal insertion.
- Care of the patient on ventilator parameters according to the patient respiratory status and control monitoring of the patients.
- Maintaining hygienic needs of the patient.
- Prevention of bed sore – back care and change of the position too hourly.
- Dressing (Ex : bed sore or surgical wound).
- Doing admission discharge and transfer of patients.
- Care of narcotics drugs & their records.
- Maintaining records & reports.
- Provide health information to the client & family encouraging to the participation care of the patient.
- Prevention of accident especially in case of children.
- Teaching using various methods.
- Preoperative patient proper explanation about surgery & instruction to be followed preoperatively & post operatively.
- Taking information concern from the patient & from the close relative.
- Post operative care – Specific post operative care according to the surgery done.
- Application of cervical traction. Bone marrow aspiration, Muscle and nerve biopsy.
- Preparing the patient for various investigation, Such as MRI, Angiography, CT scan, Doppler studies, Digital subtraction angiography, angioplasty, permanent pacemaker insertion, temporary pacemaker insertion, Pediatric cath, CABG, MVR, Audiometry.
- Maintaining inventory of article.
- Receiving required stationery item.
- Preparation of antiseptic solutions used in the ward as per hospital policies.
- Attending rounds.
