Assistant to the Country Director
Job Descriptions :
Nyaya Health’s Assistant to the Country Director (ACD) will work full-time in support of Nyaya Health’s Country Director (CD) located at Bayalpata Hospital in Achham District, Far-Western Nepal.
This job is designed to minimize the CD’s time spent on communications and logistics and to inform the CD’s decision-making in order to maximize the CD’s value on time spent working with senior-level management staff, partnership building, funding development, and programmatic expansion.
How do you know if this position is right for you?
You know what it takes to work in rural Nepal, speak fluent Nepali, and are hungry for the challenge of a wide set of varying responsibilities. You’re willing to commit to work in a rural setting for at least one year. You love spreadsheets, and you’re fantastic at organizing things. You never drop the ball, and there’s not an email in your inbox that goes unnoticed or unanswered. You are meticulous and the type of person that catches typos in every document you read. You consider yourself a renaissance man (or woman of course) and get an amazing sense of enjoyment from checking off items from your to do list. You simply like to get stuff done and make things happen, and you get uncomfortable when you’re not being useful. Finally, you are able to follow-through on challenging and ambiguous tasks.
Responsibilities include :
1. Managing Nyaya Health’s volunteer process from start to finish including posting positions on the website, arranging travel logistics with the Kathmandu Administrator, conducting volunteer orientations, and overseeing volunteer needs while in-country.
2. Communicating on behalf of the CD selectively in the CD’s absence.
3. Serving as a consistent and detailed translator at the side of the Country Director.
4. Assisting the CD in negotiations.
5. Serving to receive and relay communications intended for the Country Director over phone, email, and during unscheduled in-office visits.
6. Communicating financial and programmatic information to the international team upon request.
7. Editing important internal documents and a wide variety of external documents.
8. Getting important protocols, processes, and key organizational information updated on Nyaya Health’s Wiki and Drop box systems.
9. Organizing and merging Excel documents.
10. Organizing team gatherings, meetings, and hospital-based events.
11. Leading printing, scanning, PDF-ing, and note-taking as requested by the CD.
Required Qualifications :
1. Be a fluent Nepali speaker.
2. Make a consistent commitment to a minimum of 40 hours on site per week.
3. Be able to commit a minimum of 1 year to the position.
4. Be extremely detail oriented and committed to 100% follow-up on commitments.
5. Be comfortable in a virtual system of work in partnership with Nyaya Health’s international team and committed to handling a substantial amount of email communications efficiently, even in a low-resource setting.
6. Be comfortable using the Microsoft Office Suite package including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Benefits Include :
1. An opportunity to be a central team member in a fast-growing global health organization.
2. Salary commensurate with experience.
3. Full housing and food provided on-site for 1 year.
