FOR ADMISSION OF DIPLOMA HOLDERS IN ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY/PHARMACY AND B.Sc. TO THE 2ND YEAR (3RD SEMESTER LEVEL) OF 4-YEAR UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE COURSES IN ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY AND PHARMACY IN WEST BENGAL.
Admission through Lateral Entry to the 2nd year (3rd semester level) of the undergraduate degree courses (except in Architecture) offered by Government/Private Engineering / Technology and Pharmacy Colleges/Universities of the State of West Bengal during the Academic Session 2012-13 is open to candidates who have either passed diploma course in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy from any AICTE recognised Polytechnic/Institute with at least overall 50% marks (45% for reserved category) or have passed XII standard with Mathematics as a subject and Degree in Science (B.Sc.) from U.G.C. approved Universities with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved category).
The aforesaid candidates will be eligible for admission to degree courses based on the merit position in the JELET-2012 conducted by the “West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board” to be held on Sunday, the 24 th June, 2012.
ELIGIBILITY AND OTHER CRITERIA :
The Applicant (both male and female) must be a citizen of India.
Engineering & Technology :
Diploma holders have to pass Diploma examination from an AICTE approved institution with at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and B.Sc. Degree holders have to pass B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) and pass XII standard with Mathematics as a subject.
Pharmacy :
Students who have passed Diploma course in Pharmacy from an AICTE approved Institution, with at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) shall be eligible for admission to 2nd year Degree Course in Pharmacy.
Students who have completed Diploma course in Pharmacy having above mentioned eligibility criteria shall be eligible for admission to the 1st year Pharmacy Degree Course subject to vacancies in the 1st year class in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
SEATS AVAILABLE : Available number of seats including reserved seats have been stated in the Information brochure which will be available with the application form.\
AGE LIMIT : There is no age restriction for diploma holders of Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy. For B.Sc.candidates upper age limit is 27 years as on 31.12.2012.
RESERVATION POLICY : For Government and Government aided Engineering & Technology Colleges, reservation policy of the State Government shall be followed. For University/University Departments, reservation rule of the concerned University shall be followed.
APPLICATION : Candidates intending to appear in the JELET-2012 shall have to apply in a prescribed FORM which will be available along with the Information Brochure from 12.04.2012 to 05.05.2012 from the following Branches of AXIS BANK (list attached in separate page) on all working days (except Holidays and Sundays) on payment of Rs. 350.00 (Rupees three hundred fifty) only in CASH as application fee. Application FORM once purchased cannot be returned or replaced and there is no provision for refund of application fee.
The Forms and other details may also be obtained by Post from the Office of the BOARD ONLY through Postal request by sending a Demand Draft / Pay Order of Rs. 450/- (application fee of Rs. 350/- + Speed Post & other charges of Rs. 100/-) only in favour of ‘WEST BENGAL JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS BOARD’ payable at KOLKATA / HOWRAH so as to reach the office of the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board, AQ-13/1, Sector – V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata – 700 091 on or before 23.04.2011.
SUBMISSION : The duly filled in application form has to be sent by SPEED POST only so as to reach the Registrar on or before 10.05.2012 at the Board’s Office at AQ-13/1, Sector-V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata – 700 091.
