(2012-13 Session)

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) :
Major research areas include foundry, forge, manufacturing engineering, materials science, metallurgical engineering, ceramics, environmental science and engineering, computational materials engineering, nano materials, thin films and pure and applied sciences.

Master of Technology (M. Tech. - 4 semesters/24 months) :
(1) Foundry-Forge Technology (FFT)
(2) Manufacturing Engineering (ME)
(3) Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)
(4) Environmental Engineering (EE)

Advanced Diploma Course (ADC - 3 semesters/18 months) :
(1) Foundry Technology
(2) Forge Technology

Eligibility :
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) :
i) M. E./M. Tech. from a recognized institute/university in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, Chemical, Industrial Engineering and allied disciplines with at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate. OR
ii) B. E./B. Tech. or its equivalent from a recognized institute/university in Mechanical, Metallurgy, Production, Chemical, Industrial Engineering and allied disciplines with at least 7.5 CGPA (or 70% marks) in aggregate. OR
iii) M. Sc. or equivalent from a recognized institute/university in the relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA (or 60% marks) in aggregate.

Master of Technology (M. Tech.) :
EE : Degree in Engg. (any branch)/M. Sc. in Physics/Chemistry/Environmental Sc.
FFT : Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Production Engg. or equivalent.
ME : Degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Metallurgical/Production/Aeronautical/ Industrial/Electrical/Chemical Engg.
MSE : Degree in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Ceramic/Materials Science & Engg. or M. Sc. in Physics/Chemistry.

Advanced Diploma Courses (ADC) :
Diploma in Mechanical/Metallurgy/Production Engg. or B. Sc. (Physics/Chemistry/Mathematics) with 50% marks.

SCHOLARSHIP / STIPEND :
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) : 18,000/- per month for the first two years and `20,000/- per month for the 3rd and 4th years for candidates admitted with Institute scholarship.
Master of Technology (M. Tech.) : 8,000/- per month at present, as per AICTE norms, for candidates admitted with valid GATE score.
Advanced Diploma Courses (ADC) : 1,000/- per month for all selected candidates.

Application Fee :
PhD : 1000.00 for General/OBC
M. Tech. : 600.00 for General/OBC
ADC : 500.00 for General/OBC

SELECTION PROCESS :
PhD and M. Tech. : GATE Score/Screening test and interview. List of shortlisted candidates and the dates of screening test and/or interview will be announced later in the Institute website only.
ADC : Written test will be held at Ranchi (NIFFT) on 08/07/2012 (Sunday, 10.00 AM - 01.00 PM). The following centers may also be available (subject to receipt of sufficient applications): Hyderabad, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune.
