IDRBT, the premier Institute of Banking Technology in the country, spearheads efforts in providing state-of-the-art technologies for the Banking and Financial Sector. The Institute interfaces Research and Development, Academics, Executive Training and Best Practices.

IDRBT now invites application for its full-time Ph.D. Programme in Computer Science and Information Technology [with focus on Banking Technology] for the session starting in July 2012. The eligibility criteria for the Ph.D. programme is as under:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :
Masters Degree in any Engineering / Technology; OR M.Phil in Mathematics or Statistics or Electronics; OR Bachelor’s Degree in B.E. / B.Tech. OR Master’s Degree in Computer Applications / Computer Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Electronics / Information Systems / Internet Technology / Geo-Informatics / Bio-Informatics with a minimum of 60% marks in any of the above stated qualifying degrees.

SPECIALISATION :
Candidates should have a keen interest to carry out research in one of the following areas of Banking Technology;
** Information Technology in Banking ? Electronic Payment and Settlement Systems
** Financial Networks and Applications ? Security Technologies for the Financial Sector
** Financial Information Systems & Business Intelligence
** Financial Inclusion Technologies
** Core Banking System and Beyond ? Alternate Delivery Channels
** Open Source Technologies ? Information Security
** Closely Related Areas

NUMBER OF SEATS :
The Institute can admit upto Eight (8) Ph.D. Scholars and the reservation break-up, categorywise, is as follows :-
General : 4

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP :
The selected Research Scholars would be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 14,000/- per month during the first and second year and Rs. 15,000/- per month during the subsequent years. The fellowship is normally tenable for three (3) years. The Institute is in the process of revising the Research Fellowship and it is likely to be enhanced.

ACCOMMODATION :
The Institute would provide accommodation to the finally selected Research Scholars in the Institute’s quarters at Begumpet, Hyderabad, on nominal applicable charges.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION :
The Entrance Examination for admission to the Ph.D. programme would consist of :
(i) A Written Examination of 75 marks for 2 hours from 10 am to 12 noon on July 08,2012 (Sunday) at the University of Hyderabad campus at Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The candidates must reach the venue by 9.30 a.m. The candidates may note that the venue is around 25 kilometres from the main city of Hyderabad and they should make their travel arrangements accordingly. Candidates arriving after 10 am will not be allowed to take the Written Examination. The results of the Written test would be announced on the IDRBT website by 9 pm on July 08, 2012 (same day).
(ii) Personal Interview (only for the candidates qualifying the written examination) on July 09, 2012 (Monday) for 25 marks from 9:30 am onwards at IDRBT, Castle Hills,Masab Tank, Hyderabad – 57, Andhra Pradesh.
