    Admission to the undergraduate programmes (B.Tech.) at IIST for the year 2012 will be made through an All India Admission Test (ISAT-2012). A brief information about ISAT-2012 is given below. More detailed information will be available at the ISAT 2012 website from 1st November 2011.

    Schedule of ISAT-2012 :
    The examination will be held on Saturday, 21st April 2012 between 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (IST)
    (The schedule will remain unaltered even if the above date is declared a public holiday).

    Type of Examination

    The question paper will be of objective type and will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The detailed syllabi based on which ISAT-2012 will be conducted, for the three subjects, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be included in the ISAT-2012 Brochure.

    ISAT-2012 will have the following test centers:
    Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Calicut, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Dispur, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi, Vishakapatnam.

    RESERVATION OF SEATS

    As per Government of India rules applicable to Central Educational Institution(CEI) candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats reserved for them based on relaxed criteria. These categories are:
    Scheduled Castes (SC) - 15%
    Scheduled Tribes (ST) - 7.5%
    Other Backward Castes (OBC) belonging to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) - 27%
    Physically Disabled(PD) candidates - 3% Horizontal reservation
