Indian institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a Unit of Indian Space Research organization (ISRO), is a premier institute for capacity building and research in the field of remote sensing and geoinformatics. The institute has a multi-disciplinary and problem oriented agenda on developing land-ocean-atmosphere applications and understanding Earth’s surface and subsurface processes using primarily the space-based technologies. The research programmes are intricately linked to overall goal of ISRO and promote research excellence in satellite remote sensing and system studies.
IIRS INVITES APPLICATIONS FOR THE POSTS OF SCIENTISTS/ENGINEERS “SD” AND “SC”
Post No. 1 : Scientist/Engineer-SD (Atmospheric Sciences)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology
Post No. 2 : Scientist/Engineer-SD (Engineering Geology/ Geotechnical Engineering)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. in Geology/ Applied Geology/ Geosciences/ Geotechnical Engineering
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in the Field and Laboratory Investigation (Engineering geology/ Rock mechanics), Remote Sensing, Geostatistics, Computer Programming with first class academic records and publications in peer reviewed journals.
Post No. 3 : Scientist/Engineer-SD (Ecology)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D. in Forestry/Ecology/Environmental Science
Desirable Qualification : Knowledge/experience in structural and functional analysis of ecosystems, landscape ecology and programming will be given preference. Degree/Diploma in applications of remote sensing and GIS in forest/natural resources monitoring and modelling with first class academic records and publications in peer reviewed journals
Post No. 4 : Scientist/Engineer-SD (Urban Planning)
Essential Qualification : Ph.D in Urban and Regional Planning with B.E./B.Tech. in Civil Engineering or Architecture
Desirable Qualification : Degree / Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS in human settlement analysis and regional planning with first class academic records and publications in peer reviewed journals.
Post No. 5 : Scientist/Engineer-SC (Geophysics)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc./M.Tech./M. Sc. (Tech.) (Geophysics) with B.Sc. (Geology and two subjects from Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry)
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in Field Investigation (Geophysical survey), Remote Sensing, Computer Programming, DGPS survey, Seismology with good first class academic record.
Post No. 6 Scientist/Engineer-SC (Hydrological modeling)
Essential Qualification : M.Tech. in Hydrology/ Water Resources with B. Tech. in Civil or Agricultural engineering.
Desirable Qualification : Research experience in climate change studies and hydrological modeling along with sufficient experience in computer programming with first class academic record.
Post No. 7 : Scientist/Engineer – SC ( Geoinformatics)
Essential Qualification : M.Sc. / M.Tech. in Geoinformatics/ Geomatics
Desirable Qualification : B.Tech in Computer Science/Electronics & communication engineering. Experience in research in frontier areas of geoinformatics and knowledge in computer programming.
Candidates for Post No. (s) 5, 6 & 7 possessing M.Tech. should be in first class with an aggregate minimum of 60% marks of CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale along with B.E/B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg)/M.Sc. in first class with aggregate of 65% (Average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 scale. Candidate for Post No.(s). 1 to 4 who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis may also apply along with the documentary proof of submission of their Ph.D.
Age as on 01.03.2012 :
(A) The age limit for the post of Scientist/Engineer-SC is 35 years but relaxable for 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates and 3 years in case of OBC candidates.
(B) There is no age limit for the post of Scientist/Engineer – SD.

Applications will be received on-line only. The detailed advertisement and application format for online registration will be hosted on our web-site http://www.iirs.gov.in from 14.04.2012 to 29.05.2012 for registering the applications.
After registration, it is mandatory to send one printed copy of the duly signed On-line application form, color photographs, attested true copies of all the mark sheets, degree certificates, experience certificate, caste/tribe certificate etc. to the following address by SPEED POSTS. The form should reach the office on or before 04.06.2012 failing which online application will be rejected outright.
