    Section – A
    1. One essay question from chapter 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.

    Section - B
    2. Short answer questions must be given at least one question from each chapter.

    Section - C
    3. At least one problem from each chapter.
    Time : 3 Hours Max Marks : 75

    Section – A
    Answer any 3 questions. 3x10M = 30M
    1. Explain the principle of motion of a rocket and derive for its velocity at any instant when it is moving under constant gravitational field.
    2. Derive general equation of motion of a rigid body and obtain the moment of inertia tensor.
    3. Define Central forces and show that they are conservative in nature.
    4. Define elastic constants of isotropic solids and derive an expression for their relation.
    5. State the fundamental postulates of special theory of relativity and deduce Lorentz transformations from them.

    Section – B
    Answer any FIVE questions 5x5M = 25M
    6. Explain the terms (i) impact parameters and (ii) scattering cross section. How does the angle of scattering depends on the impact parameter?
    7. Show that curl grad Ć = 0 and Div. Curl ®A = 0
    8. Write a short notes on Gyroscope?
    9. Derive Kepler’s third law of planetary motion.
    10. Write a short notes on coriolis force with an expression for the coriolis force of rigid body motion.
    11. State Line, surface and volume integrals with mathematical expressions.
    12. Deduce mass energy relation.
    13. Write a short on different types of beams.
