The Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical & Engineering Training (CIFNET) at Kochi/ Chennai/ Visakhapatnam offers career training to candidates in Vessel Navigator and Marine Fitter Trades which have been introduced by Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour, New Delhi under Craftsman Training Scheme of NCVT. The training courses of 24 months duration include basic practical training on board fishing vessels out at sea. The courses are scheduled to be commenced from 1st August 2012.

Qualification :
(i) Essential : Pass in 10th Standard (SSLC) or equivalent examination with 50% in Maths and Science separately. The candidates who are appearing 10th Examination during March 2012 are also eligible to apply. However the selection will be made only through marks obtained in 10th and Entrance examination.
(ii) Desirable : One year fishing experience. (iii) Age: 16 to 20 years as on 1st August 2012 candidates born between 02.08.92 and 02.08.96 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply. Upper age limit is relaxable to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates by 5 years.
