Works Description
01 Project Name : “Isolation, Characterization and determination of biodegradation potential of some indigenous bacterial strains capable of utilizing p-Nitrophenol as carbon and energy source”.
Project Approved By : Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of Rajasthan, JAIPUR
Description of the project :
STUDENT PROJECT PROGRAMME 2009-10
Nevertheless, increases of environmental hazards, loss of ecological balance are the major problems caused by indefinite release of wide variety of aromatic compounds through industrial and agricultural sectors. Detoxification/ Biotransformation are the emerging and a promising strategy for providing a pollutant free environment.
According to Environmental protection agency (EPA) United States,pNitrophenol are one of most priority pollutants listed ion the national priority list of pollutants that are categorized as persistent bioaccumulative and toxic compounds that do not readily degrade readily in the environment.
In our lab research work we isolate and screen the few bacterial strains for their ability to uptake and transform xenobiotics completely in to their cellular metabolites and studied related to their expression levels of several enzymes involved in the catabolic pathway will be done. Further biodegradation ability reanalyzed through analytical techniques.
Approaches
:
1. Collection of soil sample (different area of district).
2. Enrichment with Para-nitrophenol as sole source of carbon.
3. A Screening and isolation experiment has done during first 4 months period of project tenure.
4. Determining the biodegradation potentials of isolates are carried out during 3month of the tenure
5. Elucidation of catabolic pathways on nitrophenol degradation in the isolated bacterial strains and application studies on polluted samples has done between 10 -12 month of the project tenure.
Duration : 7-8 months
Field of the Project : Environmental biodegradation/ Biotechnology
02 Durations : 7-8 months
Project Name : Biodegradation studies of Organophosphorus pesticides (Methyl Parathion) and p-Nitrophenol
Institute : Mahatma Ghandi Institute Of Applied Science
Description of Project :
In Jaipur, one of the cities of Rajasthan, bajra, jowar and wheat are the commercial crops. Farmer of this districts cultivate all under rain and irrigation modes. Spraying of pesticides in such high concentration causes a lot of damager to the non-target organism and soil ecosystems.
In our laboratory we study the systematic on biotransformation of these op-pesticides and isolated several bacterial strains that are capable of degrading op-pesticides. In the present study we have isolated a bacterium, through enrichment using methyl parathion and p-nitrophenol as sole of carbon therefore the isolated species show the capability of magnification methyl parathion and p-nitrophenol. Therefore isolated has found to be a potential candidate to develops the tool of biodegradation of organophosphates especially p-nitrophenol.
Approach : 1. Collection of soil sample (different area of district)
2. Enrichment with Para-nitrophenol or methyl parathion as sole source of carbon.
3. A Screening and isolation experiment has done during first 3 months period of project tenure.
4. Determining the biodegradation potentials of isolates has carried out during 2month of the tenure.
Duration : 6-7 months
Field of the Project : Environmental biodegradation
03 Project Name : in-vitro callus induction in Catharnthus roseus and studying the antifungal activity of callus extract
Institute : Genecity laboratories pvt. Ltd, Pune (Maharashtra)
Description of the project :
A plant cell have many metabolic pathways by it number of useful product is formed but it is in low amount. These generally produced in stress condition as defense against fungi, bacteria, insects and viruses.
We use tissue culture techniques and produce the highly sophisticated chemical factories in a large varieties of chemicals compound in specialize cell at particular stress condition. To get production of Varity of chemical compound in purification and analyzing their activity of plant extract.
Approach : Project involves the following Modules:
1. Collection of plant materials (Catharanthus roseus).
2. Initiate culture of plant material.
3. Quality activities measurement.
4. Enhancement the secondary metabolites in culture under
Stress condition
5. Extract the secondary metabolites from callus
6. Measure the inhibition zone.
7. Documentation.
8. Quality activities.
Duration : Six Months
