Project staff for implementing a Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES)

CESS is actively searching for dedicated project staff for implementing a Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) funded time bound project “Paleo fluids in the petroliferous basins of western offshore, India”. Project aims at characterising fluid inclusions from the sedimentary strata and can be crucial in discovering the presence and migration of hydrocarbons in the respective basins. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is the collaborating partner in this Project. A Laser Raman Spectroscope will be commissioned for investigations in this study and selected staff will have a unique opportunity to study geo-materials using this system. Following personnel are required during the tenure of the 3 year project.

Qualification Ph.D in Geology – Preferably in soft rock studies or M.Tech in Petroleum Geology with 3 years research/teaching experience.
Remuneration Rs.24,000/-pm + 20% HRA + Medical Allowance @ Rs.150/-pm

Qualification : Ph.D in Physics or Chemistry – Expertise in spectroscopy /optics preferred.

Qualification First Class M.Sc in Geological Sciences (Geology/Marine Geology etc) and NET qualified.

Name of the Post : Laboratory Assistant-II (1 Vacancy)
Qualification : M.Sc in Geology. Exposure in thin section preparation preferred.
Remuneration : Rs.11,000/-pm

Age limit : 35 years as on 01.01.2012; relaxation upto 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC candidates.

I, Mahendra.B have completed my M. Sc. Chemistry in the year of 2002 from University of Mangalore, India and presently working as senior Scientist in one of the India’s leading contract Research organization (CRO) named Syngene international limited. (A Biocon limited) I am pursuing my work in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. . I currently working on the synthesis of drug molecules [ more than 15 steps synthesis ]Scaffold preparation for library compounds around 10-50gm [also10-25mg] scale with 10-15 steps followed by library synthesis as a combinatorial chemistry program , resin chemistry, purification techniques , microwave reaction and I have prepared over 5000 molecules over three year of experience for drug testing
During my work in Syngene I have expertise on the multi-step synthesis of organic molecules (especially large heterocyclic molecules) starting with simple building block molecules. During this
Period I did so many important reactions viz;
1. Suzuki coupling reactions of various boronic acids with aryl halides.
Sonogshira coupling reactions; Heck reaction, Buchwald-hartwig amination, Nigishi
Coupling reaction, Wittingreaction, Reformatski
2. Various hazardous reactions involving BuLi,tertBuLi,Grignard
Reagents, Alkali metals and their hydrides, Palladium on activated
Charcoal, Raney nickel, different cyanides, Lithium aluminum hydrides,
DIBAL-H etc.
3. Various high pressure reactions like hydrogenation reaction within miniclave, autoclave and tinyclave, seal-tube reactions, ammonia reactions etc.
4. Several oxidation reactions (Desmartine oxidation, Swern oxidation etc) and reduction reaction (involving sodium boro hydride, sodium cyano borohydride, sodium tri-acetoxy borohydride etc), reductive amination etc.
5. Various protection and deprotrction reactions involving BOC-anhydride, CBZ-chloride, TBDMS-chloride etc.
I also became expertise in purification of compounds by conventional silicagel column chromatography,
Medium pressure liquid chromatography (MPLC), HPLC, COMBI-FLASH; BIOTAGE; vacuam distillation etc.
I am also familiar with specialized software like CHEMDRAW, CHEMSKETCHetc.
