1.What is research? Explain the significance of research in social sciences.

2.What are the basic ingredients of research design? Discuss briefly.

3.How are hypothesis formulated? Explain the sources and uses of hypothesis.

4.What are the main points of difference between cluster sampling and stratified sampling? Is a random sampling always better than other forms of sampling in the context of socio-economic surveys?

5.What is an interview? How is it classified? What are its major objectives?

6.What are ‘‘Footnotes’’? What is the rationale of footnotes in a research report?

7.Describe the chief features of a good research report. Give suitable examples.

8.Processing of data implies editing, coding, classification and tabulation. Describe these four operations pointing out the significance of each in context of research study.
