    1. Guidelines for admission to M.Phil. Courses :
    Dr. H.S. Gour University invites applications for admission to M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme in following subjects through entrance test Philosophy (10 seats), 2. Sociology (10 seats), 3. English (8 seats) 4. Hindi (20 seats)
    1.1 Duration of Course : One year (Two Semesters)

    1.2 Structure of M.Phil. program :
    i. Core courses compulsory to all (Minimum two courses) carrying 5 credits each
    ii. Elective courses (one) : carrying 5 credits each.
    iii. Dissertation 21 credits (Compulsory) Second semester
    The total number of credits for core and elective shall be 15 in first semester.

    Note : The departmental post graduate committee may specify the credits for core courses (including dissertation and Viva-Voce) subject to the minimum limit of 36 credits.
    The research topic for the dissertation is finalized even at the beginning of first semester so that the collection of relevant literature and research design could be completed in first semester leaving entire second semester for research.

    1.3 Eligibility :
    The candidates willing to take admission to M.Phil. program, should have following qualification :
    1.4 Qualifications :- Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off)/6.0 CGPA in (0-9) Ten point grade scale, for General and OBC (NCL), in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination
    from Universities / Institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the Entrance Test. Schedules Caste (SC)/ scheduled tribes (ST)/Physically Handicapped (PH)/Visually Handicapped (VH) category students who have secured 50% marks (without rounding off)/5.0 CGPA in (0-9) Ten point grade scale, in the Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test.

    1.5 Age Limit :- Maximum upto 28 years as on 01/07/2012 Upper age limit may be relaxed upto five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer) PH,VH and Female.

    Note : The admission would be given on the basis of “Merit” only, evaluating the performance of the candidate in the interview conducted by the department concerned.

    2 Ph.D. Course :
    Ph.D. course is conducted by almost all the departments of different schools. Admission is subject to availability of seats with faculty members. The number of seats may vary from year to year.

    2.1 Duration of the Course :
    A research scholar registered to the course will have to pass one year – (Two Semesters) course work followed by two years research work.

    2.3 Eligibility :
    2.3.1 Qualification : Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off)/6.0 CGPA in (0-9) Ten point grade scale, for General and OBC (NCL), in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from Universities / Institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the Entrance Test.     2.3.2 The candidate studying in the last semester of the qualifying examination may also apply, but he/she must have to produce final result before the date of interview, failing which his / her candidature will automatically stand cancelled.

    2.4 AGE LIMIT :-
    2.4.1. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 01/07/2012
    2.4.2 There is a relaxation in upper age limit up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to (a). SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer), (b). PH/VH and (c). Female candidates.
    2.4.3. There is a relaxation of 3 years in upper age limit for LL.M. candidates.

    2.4.4 There is no upper age limit for NET qualified candidates and also for others falling under the category mentioned below:(as per para 6 (page 3) of the Ph.D. program) “A candidate who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi government organization such as Council of Scientific and Industrial Research(CSIR), University Grants Commission (UGC), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Indian Council of
    Medical Research (ICMR), Aurveda Yoga Unani Siddha Homeopathy (AYUSH) and similar nationallevel organizations accredited by UGC”

    Conduct of Entrance Examination :
    Note : Entrance examination shall be conducted on June 1, 2012 only at UTD
    Center. Time : 09.00 am to 12.30 pm

    6.1 Structure of the Test :
    For Entrance Examination there would be two papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II and an Interview by Committee Composed of Dean and DPGC. The interview is conducted out of 50 marks.
    Paper I General Aptitude test of 50 questions with 100 marks (Applicable to all candidates offering any subject areas) .
    Standard of passing : Mandatory to score minimum 50% marks for General and 45% for SC/ST/PH/VH category.

    Paper will contain 50 objective MCQ type questions covering Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Language Aptitude, Aptitude Test, General information on General Knowledge and its interface with society, candidate's awareness of scientific and quantitative reasoning aptitude, analytical approach etc. Questions would be so designed to judge the creativity, analytical ability, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, general awareness and research aptitude of a candidate, Common elementary computer science, a few questions dealing with basic computer awareness and uses, programming instructions and simple algorithms, computational methods.

    Paper 2 Subject Specific Test : This paper will be of 200 marks consisting of 100 objective (MCQ) type questions covering relevant subject in the faculty.

    The syllabus for Art / Humanities subjects would be same to that U.G.C./NET while in Science the syllabus would be as per C.S.I.R/ NET.
    Note :
    Merit list of successful candidates declared on the basis of marks obtained in paper I (50% or above compulsory or 45% or above as the case may be) plus marks obtained in Paper II plus marks obtained in Interview.
    NET-JRF qualified Candidates though exempted from written test but need to apply in the stipulated time mentioned in the advertisement. Appearance in interview is mandatory to all those seeking admission to Ph.D. course.
    CBCS qualified M.Phil. Candidates with minimum CGPA 6.0 in (0-9) ten point grade scale are exempted from written examination; however, they will have to appear in interview.
    Minimum overall cut-off marks should in no case be less than 50% (45% for specified reserved categories) of the total marks in entrance examination. (Paper I + Paper II + Interview)

    7. Entrance Test Fee :
    Application form along with bank Challan form (in triplicate) and other informations can be downloaded from the university website www.dhsgsu.ac.in
    FEE for Entrance Test :
    General category Rs. 900 /-
    OBC (NCL category) Rs. 450 /-
    SC / ST / PH / VH Rs. 225 /-
    Fee be deposited through Challan forms SBI “POWER JYOTI ACCOUNT” ACCOUNT No. 32000156472 payable in any Branch of SBI all over India.

    Dispatch Of Admit Card :
    Admission Card bearing Roll No. and Venue of the test Centre, for appearing in the Test will be sent by concerned HOD/ Convener, DPGC, by post to the Mailing address of the candidate in stamped (Rs.25/-) envelope (To be submitted by the applicant, with Application Form). University shall not be responsible for any delay in communication caused due to wrong/incomplete address given by the candidate or any delay/loss in
    postal transit. If a candidate does not receive the Admit Card or any communication a week before the date of the Test, he/she should contact the respective Head of the departments on Phone or in person.

    Important : The candidate should carefully examine the Admit Card and all the entries made therein. In case of any discrepancy the candidate should inform the Center Superintendent immediately.

    DUPLICATE ADMIT CARD : The applicant can obtain duplicate admit card (if required) from the Head of the department of concerned subject, Dr. H.S. Gour university, Sagar. Duplicate Admit Card may be issued on request from Head of the Departments or Superintend (Examination
    Center) on production of copy of bank Challan, identity proof and a self attested photograph identical to that pasted on application form.

    Other Information :
    (i). In all matters relating to M.Phil. / Ph.D. Entrance Test and admission to respective Courses, the decision of the University shall be final.
