REACT-2012
For Admission to The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy
ELIGIBILITY :
A candidate seeking admission for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Mahamaya Technical University must hold one of the following qualifications:

2. Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field of Engineering/ Technology/ Pharmacy/ Management / Architecture of a University recognized under UGC Act 2(f) or 3(b) or equivalent 60 % for General and OBC candidates, 55% for SC/ST candidates and two years of experience in Industry / Research/ Teaching in reputed organization/ institution as approved by the University. OR 75% for General and OBC candidate, 70% for SC/ST candidates, provided the candidates have obtained the Bachelor's degree in minimum prescribed duration.
3. MCA degree of a University recognized under UGC Act 2(f) or 3(b) or equivalent 60 % for General and OBC candidates, 55% for SC/ST candidates
4. Master's degree in the field of Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/Physics/ Chemistry/Mathematics of a University recognized under UGC Act 2(f) or 3(b) or equivalent. 60 % for General and OBC candidates, 55% for SC/ST candidates
ADMISSIONCATEGORIES :
The research scholarseeking admission to the Ph.D . programme of the University, shall be classified under any one of the following categories:
Research/Faculty Associates : The designation of Research/Faculty Associate (RA) shall be given to a research scholar who is serving as a faculty member in a college / institution affiliatedto the University and satisfies the eligibility conditions as defined in Clause 3.
Full Time Research Scholar : A person enrolled in Ph.D. programme and who devotes his/her full time for research activities in the University/University Constituent Institute (CI)/ Affiliate Institute (AI)/ Approved Research Centres (ARC) and other Centres of Excellence (CE)
(a) The research scholar who obtains scholarship from Govt./Semi Govt. research funding agencies such as UGC, DST, DBT, ICCR, CSIR etc.
(b) Research scholars supported by a sponsoring organization-Government/private.
(c) Self sponsored research scholars.
Part Time Research Scholar : A person can be enrolled in the Part time Ph.D. programme of this University and allowed to conduct research activities in the University while being in fulltime employment as:
(a) Scientists/Engineers/Professionals working in recognized academic/research institutions/Government/industry (working professionals).
(b) A member of administrative/technical staff or faculty of the University
(c) Project Scientists/Assistants working in a research project in the University provided his/her Ph.D. topic is related with research project (These research scholars will get stipend/remuneration as admissible under concerned Research Project and will not be entitled to get any type of stipend/remuneration from the University. However, they will have to comply with all related Ph D norms of the University.
DURATION :
(a) The minimum period for submission of Ph. D. thesis for M. Tech./M.Pharm./M. Phil./ MS candidates enrolled as full time shall be three years and for those enrolled as part- time ,the period shall be four years from the date of provisional registration.
(b) The minimum period for submission of Ph.D. thesis for M.Sc./MBA/MCA/B.Tech./ B.E. (75% marks in aggregate of all semesters) candidates enrolled as full time shall be three years and for those enrolled as part-time , the period shall be four years from the date of provisional registration.
(c) A candidate may be allowed to modify the topic/ title/ scheme of his/her research work only with the approval of the concerned RDC, but in that case he/she shall not submit his/her Ph.D. thesis before the expiry of at least six months from the date of approval for the change.
(d) The maximum period permitted for submission of Ph. D. thesis for a candidate shall normally be six years for full time and seven years for part time candidate, from the date of provisional registration. In special circumstances, a maximum extension of two years can be granted by the Vice - Chancellor on the specific recommendation of the concerned RDC based on the six monthly progress reports. The period of maternity leave shall not be counted in the maximum period permitted. The registration shall stand automatically cancelled after the prescribed date.
MODE OF ADMISSION :
The Research Eligibility and Aptitude Competency Test (REACT-2012) for admission to Doctoral Programme (Ph.D in various branches of Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Management, Architecture and Planning, Computer Application, Applied Arts. Applied Sciences (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) shall be conducted by Mahamaya Technical University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh followed by interview. The Doctoral Programme (Ph.D) shall run as per Clause 7 above.
NET and GATE qualified candidates are exempted from REACT. Such candidates seeking admission to Ph.D degree programme shall have to face the interview.
EXAMINATION DETAILS :
REACT-2012 will be conducted for one paper with objective type questions. The question paper will have 100 questions as per following details :
(a) Part-A (30 questions) : Analytical Ability
(b) Part-B (20 questions) : Concept of Research Aptitude
(c) Part-C (50 questions) : Domain Knowledge
DATE OF EXAMINATION :
The Research Eligibility and Aptitude Competence Test (REACT-2012) will be conducted on 28th April, 2012
12. CITY OF EXAMINATION :
The REACT-2012 will be held at the following cities :
1. Delhi 2. Chandigarh 3. Gurgaon 4. Agra 5. Aligarh
6. Meerut 7. Ghaziabad 8. G.B. Nagar (Noida) 9. Moradabad
The candidates are advised to give two choices in order of preference of examination cities as some examination cities might be cancelled if sufficient number of candidates do not opt for that city. Request for change of city of examination shall not be entertained under any circumstances.
13. ADMIT CARDS :
Admit cards will be available on website. Every candidate can download their admit card, which will be available on website latest by 20th April, 2012.
14. EVALUATION AND DECLARATION OF RESULT :
(i) The result of REACT-2012 shall be declared on or before 12.05.2012
(ii) Based on the performance of candidate in REACT-2012, separate merit list will be prepared for each discipline.
(iii) In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, inter-se-merit of such candidates shall be determined as follows :
(a) Firstly, by the marks obtained in Section-C, i.e. domain knowledge.
(b) Secondly, by the marks obtained in Sections-B and A respectively
15. CUT-OFF PERCENTAGE :
The cut-off percentage of marks in REACT-2012 for the merit of successful candidates is 5%.
16. ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FEE :
Examination fee for REACT-2012 shall be Rs. 1,000/- (One thousand) for General/OBC category candidate and Rs. 500/- (Five hundred) for SC/ST/Women candidate.
17. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM :
(i) The candidate shall have to fill-up the On-line application form, from any place through internet by logging on to www.mtu.ac.in, during 16th March, 2012 to 31st March, 2012.
(ii) On-line application form has to filled in following steps :
Step 1 : Read the Guidelines carefully.
Step 2 : Register with an E-mail ID (E-mail will be treated as User Id for login purpose)
Step 3 : Fill the complete form with all the details.
Step 4 : Generate your REACT-2012 Application Form along with Bank Pay in Slip.
Step 5 : Deposit the required fee in the bank according to Bank Pay in Slip printed.
Step 6 : Update the Bank Pay in Slip details (bank Transition/Journal No.) on the site.
Step 7 : Print the On-line application form using "Print Form" option on website and send the hard copy of form with your Black & White photograph and Signature of candidate and Parent/Guardian and University copy of Bank Pay in Slip to "The Controller of Examination, Mahamaya Technical University, C-22, Sector-62, Noida-201301, G.B. Nagar (U.P.)" latest by 4th April, 2012, 4:00 p.m.
(iii) After On-line submission of application form, the candidate should take the printout of the completed application form. The candidate can retain one copy of his/her submitted form and complete with photograph and signature the other copy and post the same along with bank Challan duly stamped and verified by the bank for having deposited the examination fee as applicable as per Clause 15 above.
(iv) Completed printout of On-line application form must reach the Controller of Examination, Mahamaya Technical University, C-22, Sector-62, Noida-201301 on or before 4th April, 2012, 4:00 p.m. by Speed Post/Registered Post only. The application form delivered by any other means shall not be accepted. The application forms received in the University after the last date will not be accepted.

I am JRF qualified. I have to write entrance examination or not?
