1. What is the SI unit of absolute permittivity of free space ?
2. What is the nature of magnetic field in a moving coil galvanometer ?
3. Write an expression for the speed of electromagnetic waves in free space.
4. What is the principle of a photo cel ?
5. What is analog signal ?
6. Define an equipotential surface. What are its characteristics ?
7. What are the Faraday?s Laws of electro- magnetic induction ?
8. Obtain an expression for the force on a moving charge in uniform magnetic field. Under what condition this force is maximum ?
9. What is electromagnetic spectrum ? What are its main parts ?
10. The velocity of light in a liquid is 1.5 × 108 ms?1 and in air it is 3 × 108 ms?1. If a ray of light passed from this liquid to air, calculate the value of critical angle.
11. What is mutual induction ? Explain.
12. What are intrinsic and extrinsic semi- conductors ? Explain.
13. If two resistors are connected in series, the equivalent resistance becomes 16 . If the same are connected in paralel, the equivalent resistance is 3 . Find the individual resistances.
14. Obtain expression for power in a.c. circuits. What will be power consumed in a pure inductor ?
15. What is dispersion of light ? Define angular dispersion and dispersive power of the material of a prism.
16. What potential difference must be applied to stop the fastest photoelectrons emitted by a nickel surface under the action of ultraviolet light of wavelength 1900 A° ? The work function of nickel is 5.0 eV.
17. What is Rutherford-Soddy law for radio- active decay ? The decay constant of radium is 1.36 × 10?11 per second. What is its half- life ?
18. Draw the logic symbol of NAND and NOR gates and give their truth table.
19. What is modulation ? Define diferent types of modulations.
20. Describe the colour codes for carbon resistors.
21. Obtain expression for the impedance of a series LCR circuit.
22. What is nuclear fission and fusion ? Explain with one reaction in each case.
23. Distinguish between Conductors, Insulators and Semiconductors with the help of energy band diagram.
24. A TV tower has a height of 75 m. What is the maximum distance and area up to which this TV transmission can be received on the earth ?
25. Derive expression for the capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor with a dielectric medium between the plates.
26. Describe, with theory, the construction and working of a cyclotron.
27. What is fringe width ? Derive an expression for the fringe width.
