(A1) Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Mumbai India
From August 1989 to April 30, 2005 (Retired as Additional Chief Engineer)

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is a Govt. of India Enterprise under Department of Atomic Energy. It is wholly responsible for “Development and Implementation of Nuclear Power Generation Program”. The organization’s area of operation encompasses “Concept to Commissioning and Operation of Nuclear Power Plants” in the country. The main activities in this regard include “Site Selection, Design, Engineering, Procurement, Management of Plant Construction & Commissioning of project and Research & Development”. After commissioning of plant, “operation & Maintenance of plant” is also part of NPCIL activities.
I have been actively involved in “Procurement, Project Execution & Co-ordination with respective Sites named as KAIGA – 1&2, KAIGA – 3&4, RAPP – 3&4, RAPP – 5&6 and TAPP – 3&4 Nuclear Power Projects of 220 MWe & 540 MWe”.
My responsibilities included mainly timely execution of “Mechanical System Packages of the above projects” such as Compressed Air Plant Package – comprising of Air Compressors, Air Receivers, Air Dryers and associated Control & Instrumentation & Piping System; Ventilation System Packages – comprising of Tube Axial, Roof Exhausters, Centrifugal & Bi-furcated Fans, Filters, General & Fire Qualified Dampers, Duct & Duct Accessories, Centrifugal Chillers, Air Handling Units, Packaged Air-conditioners and Contaminated Air Ventilation System; Turbine Oil Purification Plant and Material Handling Items – Cranes, Hoist & Elevators and Filtration & Chlorination for Plant Water System.
My job also involved “Review of Technical Specifications, Suggestion for revision of Technical Specification, Tendering, Techno-commercial Analysis of Bids, Pre-award discussions with bidders and Preparation of Approval Note for award of Contract etc.”
After award of contract, my responsibilities included for smooth & timely execution of contract meeting specified quality standard. The main activities involved review of various types of Technical Documents such as drawings, Data Sheets, Design Calculations, Quality Assurance Plans and Quality Procedures. In addition, regular follow-up & discussions with vendors to resolve issues arising during execution of contract, witness of shop testing of equipment, clearance of vendor invoices for stage payments and co-ordination with various in-house sections etc.
(A2) BST Engineering Services Ltd., New Delhi
Senior Engineer, From July 1981 to August 1989.
BST Engineering Services Limited is basically a mechanical engineering contracting company, executing orders on EPC basis along with associated Civil, Electrical & Instrumentation requirements across the country.
In this organization, my responsibilities were execution of contracts awarded by clients. Job involved preparation of all Technical Documents related to contract and their approval from client / client’s consultant such as Design Calculations, Drawings, Data Sheets, Quality Assurance Plans and Test Procedures etc. and techno-commercial discussion and co-ordination with clients. In addition to this I was looking after in-house work related to contracts – such ad indenting, co-ordination with other sections of organization; follow up with vendors for purchase orders.
(A3) Driplex Water Engineering Limited, New Delhi
Senior Engineer, From May 1980 to July 1981.
Driplex is “Water & Effluent Treatment Solution” company engaged in “Process Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Erection, Testing and Commissioning” of large size treatment plants for “Power, Fertilizer, Chemical and other Industrial Sector”. Driplex also undertake “Water Treatment Plants for Municipal Water Supply System”.
My responsibilities involved execution of contracts of “Pre-treatment Plants and DM Plants” for Thermal Power Plants. The job included preparation of all “Technical Documents related to contract such as Design Calculations, Various types of Drawings, Technical Data Sheets, Quality Assurance Plans & Test Procedures and their approval from Client” co-ordination with Client, Vendors & In-house Sections to meet time schedule of the contract.
(4) Power Projects Engineering Division (Now known as Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Mumbai) – Scientific Officer - From January 1974 to May 1980.
Power Projects Engineering Division was a division of Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, exclusively engaged in “construction & development of Nuclear Power Plants” of the country. At a later date, this division was converted into Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited.
The job involved “Design, Engineering & Procurement of various items required for a Nuclear Power Plants”. The main activities were review of Technical Specification & Drawings, Tendering of Fabricated Equipments & Custom Built Items, Techno-commercial evaluation of Bids, Preparation of Purchase Recommendations. After placement of Purchase Order, Review of all Technical Documents of venders, Techno-commercial Discussions and regular follow with vendors till dispatch of materials.
(A5) Modi Sugar Mills, Modinagar (UP)
Assistant Engineer – Maintenance – From July 1970 to January 1974.
This job was a job of “Plant Maintenance Job”. A Sugar Mill is comprised of “Cane Crushing Mills, Centrifugal & Steam Driven Reciprocating Duplex Pumps for Cane Juice & Water Service, Cane Juice Clarification Unit, Concentration & Crystallization Units and Centrifugal Machine for separation of Sugar from Molasses and Bagging Unit”.
Operation of a Sugar Mill, being a seasonal unit, is divided into two parts – Production Period & Non – production Period. During production period, maintenance involved “Break Down and Preventive Maintenance” & during non-production period work involved “Complete Overhauling or Replacement of Plant Equipment and any Modification required for improving production etc.”
(B) Experience during Post Retirement Period.
(B1) Driplex Water Engineering Limited, New Delhi
Project Engineering Consultant, From July 2006 till December 2008.
Driplex is “Water & Effluent Treatment Solution” company engaged in “Process Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Erection, Testing and Commissioning” of large size treatment plants for “Power, Fertilizer, Chemical and other Industrial Sector”. My responsibilities as Consultant included “Complete Project Engineering of various Industrial and Municipal Water Treatment Plants such as Pre-treatment, DM Plants, Circulating Water Treatment Plants and Effluent Treatment Plants etc”. (B2) Flowmore Pvt. Ltd., Ghaziabad, UP
Manager – Quality Control, From September 2005 till July 2006.
This organization manufactures a wide range of “Centrifugal Pumps for Industrial, Municipal & Agricultural Use” with various materials of construction such as Cast Iron, Cast Steel, SS and Bronze. The organization is well equipped with CI Casting Shop, Machine Shop, Inter Stage Inspection and Performance Test Facilities.
