Realtime systems is a variant of embedded system which needs good response time. Based on how hard they insist on response time we classify the devices as soft real time and Hard real time devices. Devices today such a mobiles, PDA and even routers are non-real time devices. In future these devices will be evolving as soft-real time devices. Hard-Real time systems are only required by certain high end devices which are not necessarily embedded such a Mars rovers, defense systems, antilock breaking systems where fault-tolerance is almost negligible. This course teaches you programming in both hard and soft real-time systems.
