M.Phil (Natural Resource Management)

1. Eligibility :
The minimum qualification for all candidates shall be Post Graduate degree/diploma or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks recognized by anIndian University or Association of Indian Universities (AIU). The relaxation of 5% marks at the Masters Degree (P.G) eligibility criterion shall be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/PD category as per the guidelines of UGC.

The candidates applying to M.Phil (NRM) programme should have post graduate degree or its equivalent in the field of Science/Engineering/ Management and related Social sciences. (The equivalence will be decided by the Institute).

The candidates from outside India SAARC/Foreign countries who have obtained their masters degree from any university, outside India must provide the equivalence of the eligibility requirement which shall be 55% marks at masters Degree (PG level).

2. Seats :
The total number of seats available is 20, out of which maximum of 10 seats will be filled by in-service Officers from Indian Forest Service, State Forest Services, Group ‘A’ Officers or equivalent from Govt. Departments/Public Sector and representatives from NGOs with minimum three years of experience in the fields related to natural resource management. The remaining ten seats will be filled by other eligible candidates. If for any reason, there are not enough suitable candidate from in-service category or non in-service category, the seats will be transferred to the other category for filling the batch strength.

There shall be a supernumerary quota of five seats for SAARC and foreign nationals. This quota shall be over and above the strength of 20 and will be only filled by the above category of candidates. This quota cannot be filled in by any other category. If there are no candidates from SAARC and other foreign countries then this will remain vacant. This shall however be subject to approval from competent authority.

3. Admission Procedure :
Regarding the admission procedure for in-service officers, the application will be invited by way of nomination (through proper channel) and will be screened at IIFM using criteria set by IIFM to select candidates for the course. The nominated in-service candidates shall be exempted from written test.

For other category candidates written test and an interview shall be conducted. The written test shall have three components namely English ability, Analytical ability and Natural resource management aptitude. The Institute shall set a cutoff limit for the written exam. Candidates qualifying the cut off shall be invited for the interview. Based on the performance in the interview a merit list of suitable candidates will be released for admission. The UGC/CSIR/ICAR- NET qualified candidates shall be exempted from written test and shall be directly called for interview. Candidates with PGDFM from IIFM with a minimum of 3.0 OGPA shall also be exempted from written test and shall be directly called for interview.

4. Reservation :
Reservation shall be applicable for candidates other than nominated in-service candidates as per the prevailing Govt. of India norms.
