The Indian Montessori Training Courses - A Brief Introduction
The Indian Montessori Centre has been offering the Indian Montessori Training Courses since 1939. The first sixteen courses were conducted by Dr. Maria Montessori with the help of her son Mr. Mario Montessori. From 1952 to 1980 these courses were conducted by Dr. Maria Montessori's personal representative Mr. A. M. Joosten. After Mr. A. M. Joosten's demise in 1980, Mr. S. R. Swamy took over as Course Director and continued the good work till he retired in 1990.

Course Structure of the Indian Montessori Training Course - Classroom
** Introduction and activities.
** Practice sessions with Montessori educational materials.
** Observation sessions in IMC recognised Montessori houses of children.
** Preparation of five material files recording all presentations offered.
** Material making - material to be used in Montessori houses of children.

Minimum Qualifications for enrolling into the Classroom Course
The minimum qualifications for joining the Indian Montessori Training Course - Classroom are as follows:
** The candidate should have passed 10 + 2 (although graduates are preferred).
** The candidate should possess a basic command over written and spoken English.
** The student should have completed 18 years of age.
